If you decide to leave for pastures new and the opportunity for a substantial salary increase I don't blame you, it makes perfect sense and you have to look after your own interests .... the career of a footballer is short & personally I'd consider any increase in wages if it meant financially securing my family's future! You will always be fondly be remembered as one of the clubs great players but here's food for thought ..... 1. I think you are better & you can do MUCH better than Aston Villa! 2. I think you have a MUCH better chance of playing premiership football next season WITH US rather than Villa! 3. Back to back promotions leading us into the premiership ... you would go down in Town folklore along with messrs Glavin & Redfearn. 4. See out the season with us ...you stock is only rising as every week passes! 5. Negotiate a contract extension with the reds now ...double your wage for the next few months and stipulate a clause to protect yourself which allows you to leave at the end of the season should we NOT get promoted! If the reds don't get to the premiership this season then choose your club in the summer, there will be far more options and I honestly believe prem clubs looking for your services! If we DO get to the premiership, fill you boots, get the salary you deserve with US & become a Barnsley legend!! Back to how I started ..... Whatever you decide is right for you I'd just personally like to say .... THANKS!
