We seem to have so much more success with this.

I actually feel like it gives the whole side much greater balance.

It seems to encourage the left back to come inside and play a forward pass round the corner rather than the traditional left footed left back checking back and playing to the centre back or hoofing down the line.

When Kpekawa was in the side I felt it was much easier to pen us in. I have also felt the same since Aidy returned and long before that with Kennedy and George Smith.

Take nothing away from Aidy who linked up really well with Hammill last season but I have always felt with George Williams, Yiadom and now Jones we look more solid whilst having more natural options to go forward.

The right footer obviously has to be comfortable on the ball but I do feel it gives us much greater fluidity and allows for a quick switch of play.

In this day and age with players being coached from 8 years old and younger they should be comfortable on both feet surely. It should be difficult to tell which side was naturally his strongest side when he first started playing once they get to under 18 level.

Maybe so but thats very rare.

Butterfield and Ryan Kent are the only completely 2 footed player I've seen at BFC in recent years.

We've had a fair few that were equally weak with both feet in the past...

I certainly thought that Gethin Jones had a very solid game at left back on Saturday, especially considering it was his first start in any first team. looks a good prospect. I would go with the idea of the right-footed left back, especially as the trend is also, like us with Hammill, to play wide players on the opposite flank to their stronger foot with the idea of their be able to cut inside and get a shot away. Anyone cutting inside a right-footed left back will be going on to their stronger tackling side. Yiadom has done well at LB, but is equally comfortable on the right.

It's a funny one with Jones. I was saying to my mate on the way home that I'd not noticed him.

I didn't mean it in a bad way, I was just so relieved we had a full team out and caught up in the excitement, I'd just forgotten to keep an eye out for him.

Better to blend straight into the team than stand out for being poor.

    If that makes sense?

I said the same thing at one point. I hadn't noticed really him and that was good as he must have looked like he belonged.
