Pretty fair report though I don't agree with Stams view we only came for a point. We should have scored at least one and possibly 2 another day we could easily have had all 3 points. Though on balance a draw was probably fair
"But Barnsley, steely in defence and cunning in attack, survived the storm and surged forward once more......." It is a long time since I read that about Barnsley. Seem to have tightened up on the defending of corners, something I witnessed they struggled to do against Wolves Seems like Hecky is turning into a master tactician which can only help us. We already knew his man management, team building and motivational skills are excellent. This new group of players are quickly shaping up to be as tight knit as the one we had before the transfer window. URedz!!
On big difference is James is now the guy at the front post for corners and set pieces and he is much harder to clear without floating the ball over, making us much less vulnerable. He also reads the game well so is often in the right place to stop attackers getting the second ball
It's a pity about the Wolves result. I only get to one game a year if I am in UK- If the corner/set piece7crosses defending had been better it wouldn't have cost us two goals. That, plus the stupid foul resulting in us being down to 10 men I fancied we would have got a result that night. I thought, particularly 2nd half, we were far the better side in open play. Ah! But then there was that 'comedy ref' !!!???? Nevertheless, I enjoyed the game and seeing how far Barnsley have progressed since the last time I was at Oakwell. Constructive criticism is one thing, but I can't believe some of the negative posts on this BB based solely on personal opinion with little or no supporting evidence particularly during the tranmsfer window.
A decent report. Listening to Barnsley Player, it sounded to me like we made the better chances and soaked up all that they could throw at us. Jaap Stam's bluster is nothing more than sour grapes, yet another manager not prepared to afford us the credit we deserve.
Nothing new from Stam. When Leeds beat them at Elland Road he was complaining that Reading had x% possession and Leeds didn't deserve the win etc.
One very positive thing about the report is that it doesn't patronise us and indeed suggests the result keeps our play-off chances alive. So that's a reporter using evidence rather than preconceived ideas to offer opinion. I like that.
