But only after they went 1-0 up, in my opinion. Once they got in front, I thought Brighton managed to see the game out with a greater degree of comfort than they'd managed earlier. I felt we moved the ball about very well and caused them quite a few problems. How on earth we weren't awarded a penalty in the first half goodness only knows. I think it shows just how far we've come as a club in such a short space of time when there's a certain level of disappointment after playing well but losing to a club who appear destined for the Premier League. Matty James was real quality today and deserved his MOTM award. On to next Saturday against Huddersfield with renewed confidence with this group of players and Head Coach.
not sure you're allowed to be positive on here after a defeat by the top of the league. The normale is to slag each and every player in the entire squad. Also the entire staff at Oakeell too. That is the protocol on here after such a match I do believe.
Re: not sure you're allowed to be positive on here after a defeat I can only speak as I see it, I can't & don't speak for anyone else. By the same token, they don't speak for me.
Agree with that. I thought we more than matched them first half and could've (should've) had a penalty for that handball. And even in the second half when they were 1-0 up, AH should've equalised. That being said, rather expectedly they were in complete control when 2-0 up. I would've given Moncur MOTM personally but James played well also.
Re: not sure you're allowed to be positive on here after a defeat Virtually no-one is doing that. My take on it is that Brighton were a very professional side with players they can't afford. We should have had a pen at 0-0 and Hammill (who was very poor) should have equalised. We also left a tired Moncur on far too long. And I've no idea how Armstrong stayed on. Well, I do, we've got **** all options up top. No disgrace in losing to them and on another day we'd have at least had a point and once again incompetent officials play a negative role.
I think you know what I mean mate as far as I am concerned we have no real means to be complaining. When we won the play-offs last season ( and that came out of the blue if we are honest) I think most believed we would struggle to stay up this term... here we are now, safe for another season in the Champs IMHO. We seem to be well run financially and have the best manager we have had in decades. We still are not out of the play off mix just yet. But that's just not good enough for many on here.
Brighton are a class team. And we matched them, or shaded, the first half. In a strange way it's quite a reassuring sign, that those at the more negative end of the spectrum, are reporting that losing to top of the league, in what was actually a fairly even match, is "*****"! Shows how far we've come. Disappointed? yes, always am after we lose. Despondent? Not even close. Club are doing great and fully predict Hecky to get the lads bouncing back next Saturday and the team to go on a little run of victories. Some of the same posters predicting 0 points from these last 3 games are calling us rubbish despite us getting 4 points! Wonder how some people ever find happiness in anything Barnsley do.
Apart from a 10 min spell after they went 1-0 up and we looked a bit disjointed, I thought we competed well and certainly gave them more to worry about than we did when we played them away. 2nd half not too dissimilar to the game down at Brighton. Don't know about anyone else, but I enjoyed the game. Two good sides in my opinion, who played very similarly. On the day, as at Brighton, one was just that bit better when it mattered, and I guess that's why they're at the top.
I agree. "I've not got exactly what I want, exactly when I want it!" <img src ="http://www.reactiongifs.com/r/vlt.gif">
It was the second half first curse that did for us. Otherwise, we would have slaughtered them like extras from Game of Thrones. More expert analysis to follow...
No complaints losing to Brighton, only disappointment is the lack of options on the bench to change things up front and how we have allowed ourselves to be in this situation.
The plus point is that come the summer we'll have £5m more to sign out of contract players, or buy players, than we would have if Bree, Hourihane and Winnall were let go for free/compo when their contract expired. Would love us to make play offs. And making up 9 points from last 13 games is by no means impossible, but we can be damn proud of what this team has achieved already this year. We are better than the sum of our parts.
Agree, i thought he was fantastic in the first half but understandably faded in the second. For this reason alone I thought James was MoM. Agree on all points.
Agree. It was always going to be difficult. Brighton look a professional squad. Theyve put together a proper team. Murray and Baldock, quality up front. Knockaert, deadly and what all Championship teams need on the wing. Dunk, Bruno - leadership and composure. Its what money buys you but theyve spent properly this season, unlike Villa, Newcastle or The Fritzls.
