Been looking online to find highlights of this match. It's from the season we ended up losing to ipswich at wembley in the play off final if I remember right we won 2-1 john Curtis and higgy scored. Over 21k turned up the west stand was nearly full of reds. If anyone could help find the highlights would be much appreciated cheers.

Found it. I've been looking for the away game at Fulham from the same season for a couple of years. Went to the game, we won 3-1, and our 3rd goal scored by Van Der Laan was one of the best counter-attack goals I've seen. Saw all 3 goals live, never seen them since.

If we'd have kept De Zeeuw instead of that plonker Bassett bringing dross like Chettle, Brown and Tuttle we'd have won the league.

Wasn't that the first sell out in the away end?

Agree 100% about De Zeeuw. Didn't mind Chettle, although way past his best, but Brown, good grief. Topped his season off trying to play Reuser offside at Wembley, in his own half.

Someone made a few quid on these baba signings. Someone, somewhere.

RVDL - lambasted since, but vital to our performance that season.

He scored a few goals early doors that kick started a good run.

Still my favourite match watching Barnsley. Was about ten at the time and it was the first capacity crowd I'd been in (save for the Spurs 'Ginola game' the season before but that was with the old away end). It was the first time the new North stand had been full and the Man City lot were as loud as I'd ever heard. I remember us being breathtaking at times in the first half, 2-0 up, then they began to come back second half and got one back. It was one hell of an atmosphere, real edge to it. City fans were proper, old skool City fans back then too, very noisy. They ended up fighting with either themselves or the stewards at one point. But yeah, we were awesome and for a young lad, our Watching Brazil chant was the loudest I'd ever heard, drowning out the Blue Moon song of the same tune coming from the away hoardes. Happy days.

That was when we could turn a crowd out 80% of the west stand full eat and ponty full fighting for top 2 no cheap tickets. North stand full with city ant that was when city were city no toriests and they brought some proper boyos that day loved it I was sat in the east stand that day and my oldest memory is a old woman at least 60 city scarf sticking 2 up at the eaststand at the final wistyle.

I was sat in the West Stand for this game and got my programme signed by Chris Kamara who was on Sky duty at the time.
