When I first left school, I travelled everywhere by Public transport watching the Super Reds. No mean feat when you live in South London.

My longest journey was to Ayresome Park, Middlesborough. 84/85

I left home at 3 o'clock in the morning to cycle to King's Cross because there were no night buses. Locked my bike up at the train station. I then caught the first train out of Kings CRoss at 5.30am. I had to change three times, from memory there was York & Darlington but the third change escapes me.

Ayresome Park was a dump, and we were moved off of one terrace because it was deemed unsafe. The terrace that we were re-located on didn't look any better.

I got back in at Kings Cross about 12.30. Fortuately, my bike hadn't been nicked so I started cycling home. I developed a puncture at Kennington so cycled from Kennington through Brixton & Streatham on a flat tire.

Forgot the game. It finished 0-0!
