for the first time in a long time, i feel really calm about our transfer policy. we don't need to sell. cryne and hecky have said that times over. i don't think anyone will be going anywhere unless proper bids come in. i'd say £4m+ for bree £5m+ for roberts and £6m+ for conor

now i know roberts and conor are the spine of the team, but if those bids came in, it's £15m on top of about £12m from stones and alfie. Best part of £30m in one season. That's big money for us. For me, that guarantees us Championship football with hecky at the helm. We can also repay Patrick

failing that, i'd be over the moon if they all stayed for the rest of the season.

no point $punking it away on premier league loans and the like though mate. if we didn't spend another penny this season, kept our current squad and the £ in the bank, i'd be well happy. we'll definitely replace anyone we sell. hecky has said that.

Clubs don't exist in a vacuum and their only outgoing is not transfer fees. The money could have been sat in the bank earning interest, paying for various running costs, or just repaying the owners investment and previous losses.

Yes I realise that. It was a sarcastic take on GRBB's post.

If he goes we'll be the best footballing academy in Yorkshire based on sales over the recent years. We were moaning it was ***** five years ago.

Sorry to ask, I'm sure everyone else knows, but who's Alan Nixon and how reliable is he?

Don't you have to pay tax on profits? If we don't spend it won't we lose it?

Sounds like my wife's version of accounting!

Profit and loss can be spread across financial years, also we have asset depreciation that can be offset.

There is likely to be some tax due, but we won't "lose" vast sums.

With regards transfers would love us to use our recent money to reward current players. Imagine the boost before Saturday if Sam Winnall signed a new contract. Would be amazing!

Every company has to pay tax on profits (except Amazon, Starbucks, Google etc who get let off). The profit is calculated (in simple terms) from the difference between the amount received and the amount paid out.

Therefore (again, in very simple terms) if we receive £1000 and spend £500, we make a profit of £500 and will pay tax of 20% of that which is £100. You don't pay tax on income, only on profit.

I'm not sure how transfer fees are treated for tax purposes (revenue or capital?) but perhaps our resident accountant BFC Dave can help?

The mention of accounts and tax, just sent a shudder down my spine...

Can't we just talk about football?:(
