We didn't really need the video monitor, it was so clearly not a foul (hence our screams!) but the replay certainly confirmed it within a matter of seconds.

The 16000 + Fulham supporters would have been very happy with the ref's performance yesterday!

If we get a 'soft' penalty against Blackpool on Tuesday we wont be complaining - we'd be saying it's all part of the game. Also after the run of bad decisions against us we'd say we deserve a decision to go our way.

I don't know what the answer is - maybe there should be some sanction against the players who can be seen on the video to have conned the referee.

I watched it on Kodi , and like others was aghast at the decision....Having watched it again on playerhd , I can see why it was given , as the players move to the side Angus has a hand on their player , either the shoulder or neck , only appears a fairly light touch , but when followed up by a dive and massive appeal it must have looked convincing .

Very debatable, commentator on Ch5 said he'd seen similar ones given, so I'll sit on the fence. The ref (if he had any sense of fairness) should have given it to even out the very harsh one he gave against us (which he had the chance to look at at half time). Clearly he had no such sense of fairness.

On the subject of the penalty, where did the 1 minute of stoppage time come from?

    1 No goals
    2 No substitutions
    3 No time wasting
    4 No injuries
    5 No bookings

Nothing whatsoever. So where did the minute come from?

That's just letting the officials off though. In this instance the referee is entirely at fault and should be dealt with accordingly.

Imo it was a nailed on penalty on Armstrong his arm should no be coming away from his side ,use your arm as contact but with body strength ,his arm carried on as if levering and that is definitely a foul .
    Imo.
McDonald gave the ref a decision to make especially in current crackdown on such actions but it's the inconsistency that's killing the rule imo .
Timekeeping could easily be taken out of the refs hands without much disruption to the game I don't know why it isn't tbh.

This is what really annoys me, managers are held accountable for results and performances yet there is no comeback against referees - They don't have to explain appaling performances nor are they reprimanded or sacked! If a manager dare say the slightest thing about a ref's performance then the authorities jump all ovet it!

The only punishment they get is being demoted which just means that some other poor buggers further down the pyramid have to suffer them.

Never really understood the logic in that. If you're not good enough to officiate when Liverpool play Arsenal, then you're not good enough to officiate Sheffield Utd v Bradford. The latter is still a professional football match, with huge sums of money at stake.

Me neither but the powers that be would rather an official drop a bollock at a low key game rather than in a high profile game shown around the world. They're not bothered if smaller clubs have to suffer for their incompetence.

    Worryingly, you're absolutely right.

I try not to give refs stick as it must be an incredibly difficult job given the speed of the game and the amount of play-acting that goes on. However, when they are consistently getting elementary decisions wrong like Fulham's penalty on Saturday, it's hard to know what to do. Allowing video replays is such an obvious avenue to go down, and one which would wipe out 90% of diving and simulation in an instant. Yet the powers that be seem inexplicably reluctant to bring it in. Strange.

It is a difficult job, I made reference to the Swansea penalty earlier and I think the ref got that one spot on having seen it a few times. The problem is when they don't really have a decision to make and they still get it wrong. Bloody useless.

S6 is where the investigators should be looking.

They play against 10 men every week. It wouldn't be the biggest surprise in the world if some middle eastern multi millionaire willing to piss money up the wall on mercenary footballers to get in the prem would have an issue with slipping some refs a few backhanders.

Man Utd are beyond belief as well. 3 clearly offside goals in the last month & Rojo & Rooney able to fly in with studs & get away with it

Yes, one of the all-time most blatant penalties not given.

I think the Wendy's vs Rotherham game should be investigated.

I agree, retrospective bans and fines for any players shown to have dived.

Yea felt sorry for Rotherham that day and an answer to an earlier post...............1 minute is the default setting for every game (1 minute minimum is always added) you never see the board with "0" on it from the 4th official.

The penalty tonight showed complete incompetence from the ref. They need technology to help with some decisions but not to help with decisions like this.

You have to wonder though, can people be that incompetent or is there something more sinister going on?
