Reported today he's been bombarded with racist messages from his own supporters. Lovely salt of the earth fans are Liverpool fans. They still think they are a big club like they were in the 70s and 80s.

If they looked at the bigger picture they have a young lad who wants to win trophies, which isn't very likely if he stays where he is. Especially with every season for different reasons the squad getting weaker and weaker with no Carragher, Suarez, Gerrard etc and a manager who's wasted good money on guys who aren't good enough.

He's a greedy little brat but that's pretty common in football. I'd be making him play in the reserves until he starts to show a bit of respect and if I could I'd be fining him the maximum amount possible for as long as he makes himself unavailable.

He's a young kid getting bad advice. He wants to be looking at Rodwell, Johnson, Sinclair. I'd like to say he has an over-inflated view of his worth but clearly he hasn't as Man City are going to pay it him. Or should I say their super rich owners are. Rich men's play things, football clubs. Now where's George Osbourne and the IMF to go and tell the poorest that they need to pay up...

Overrated IMO anyway, hope he ****s himself over with the way he's gone on. Barkley and Ox are both far bigger talents in similar positions for country for me and those two seem very level headed and down to earth lads.

But respect shouldn't just work one way. When players get released at the end of a season fans rarely if ever moan that their manager is showing a lack of respect to them by letting them go. Yet when a player wants to leave because he sees a squad getting weaker every season and has to play for a manager he seemingly doesn't trust to make the team a contender for honours with the transfer budget he's seen as disrespectful. He doesn't appear to want to be seen as a Le Tissier or Shearer type who didn't win anything near enough in their careers for the talent both guys had. I agree with those who say Sterling is overated, but I can't blame him for wanting to leave. If he thought Liverpool had any chance of challenging for the title he'd probably be happy to stay put.

I don't know what is going through his head but from what I've read I reckon it's as much about money as it is about trophies. He's had one good season and that was on the back of Suarez who lifted the whole team above their true ability.

He's not as good as he thinks he is but that's more of a reflection on the state of football than it is on his own overblown ego - average players getting paid fortunes is common place now.

The best thing he can do is buckle down, do what he is already being paid a fortune to do and stop playing at billy big ******.

Clubs have very little power these days, especially at the top level and players just think they can tear up contracts as soon as it doesn't suit them anymore yet they always seem very happy when they're signing the contracts. It's high time a club stood by their principles and stopped caving in to player sulks and demands.

Sterling gets paid a week more than a lot of scallys do a month.

He binned off 100k a week.

It belittles those who pay towards his wages. Deserves everything he gets.

Id ban him from attending training and make him train on his own for two years and fine the **** every time I could

As a man city fan , I am hoping city don't sign him because to me Raheem Sterling is useless and not worth no where near 50 million in my opinion. As far as I'm concerned Liverpool can keep him.

So you jumped on our bandwagon when we got promoted.
On Man City's when they also started to get promotions, and Arsenal when they started winning stuff.
    Proper fan.

Poor little Liverpool. Having to be be a feeder / selling club to bigger, richer neighbours. Imagine that happening ten years ago! I don't particularly rate Sterling's ability and I really don't like his attitude and his respect for his employer but if it was going to happen to any club (and their fans) I can't think of a better scenario.

When a player gets released it's because his contract has ended. The club agreed to pay him £x per week to play for them for a set period, and that period ended. Both parties fulfilled their end of the bargain and now they move on.

When a player forces a move he's effectively trying to renege on an agreement he made. It's entirely different.
