I go to every match so I don't need the commentary aspect. Convince me to sign up, if you do a good job at convincing me I will tonight.
Well I've been singing its praises for a long time now. This season the quality has gone up significantly. Absolute bargain!
I go to 90 percent of matches and don't have a lot of time for watching football outside of that. Would it still be worth it for me? I've never seen it and don't know it's major selling points.
Well I only go to all the home games and a sprinkling of away games so I obviously appreciate the commentary anywhere I happen to be if not watching. Yesterday, for example, I heard every minute of the match from the departure lounge at Wroclaw airport so that made the wait VERY enjoyable! I like to see the "on the pitch/in the tunnel" video clips - it's just nice to see the ground from pitch level either before the match or after. The interviews with the players are ok - my only criticism is the sound quality now and then but that will hopefully improve. I've said before that interviewer and interviewee need to mic-ed up for clarity. I like being able to see friendly/U23/U18 highlights. I like the other miscellaneous bits and pieces. If I'm not bothered, I won't watch. Best of all, obviously, are the match replays. You get a decent 10 or 11 minutes highlights package for every match. You get full match replays with, this season being a new thing, full commentary from Matt and some other guy called Whitey or somebody All good stuff, even if you went to the match the day before. It's nice being able to see everything all over again. On the rare occasions we get on Sky then you get THEIR camera angles and super professional coverage. Ours is a single camera on the gantry but they do a reasonable job with it. It's in HD now as well, so if you have a good broadband connection it's like watching TV. My subscription renewal is coming up but last September it was £37. Just over £3 a month isn't worth thinking about so I don't see how anyone can argue against it on price. If it shoots up to Sky Sports levels then that will need thinking about but, for now, it's DEFINITELY worth it. Ok BFC - where do I send my bill for the testimonial?
Just to add to the Prince's posts... Once you sign up to a subscription to one Club's Player you can use the same log in details to access any club's Player so you have commentary, interviews, highlights, replays etc. of every single football match from the following teams: Premier League AFC Bournemouth Burnley Crystal Palace Hull City Leicester City Middlesbrough Southampton Stoke City Swansea City Watford West Bromwich Albion Sky Bet Championship Barnsley Birmingham City Blackburn Rovers Brentford Brighton & Hove Albion Bristol City Burton Albion Cardiff City Derby County Huddersfield Town Ipswich Town Norwich City Nottingham Forest Preston North End Queens Park Rangers Reading Rotherham United Sheffield Wednesday Wigan Athletic Wolverhampton Wanderers Sky Bet League One AFC Wimbledon Bolton Wanderers Bradford City Bury Charlton Athletic Chesterfield Coventry City Crewe Alexandra Fleetwood Town Gillingham Millwall Milton Keynes Dons Northampton Town Oldham Athletic Oxford United Peterborough United Port Vale Rochdale S****horpe United Sheffield United Shrewsbury Town Southend United Swindon Town Walsall Sky Bet League Two Barnet Blackpool Cambridge United Carlisle United Cheltenham Town Colchester United Crawley Town Doncaster Rovers Exeter City Grimsby Town Hartlepool United Leyton Orient Luton Town Mansfield Town Morecambe Newport County Notts County Plymouth Argyle Portsmouth Stevenage Wycombe Wanderers Yeovil Town The National League Aldershot Town Dagenham & Redbridge FC Halifax Kidderminster Harriers Lincoln City Macclesfield Town Torquay United Tranmere Rovers Wrexham York City I can't say that I am interested in any other club but if you do like to take an interest in other teams then you'd easily get far more than your money's worth. It can also be good to watch interviews before/after a match from the opposition's manager to see what they thought of the game.
I might give it a go though I'm slightly concerned it will end up like all the 'loyalty' cards that I have and never use. Still a few quid I won't miss it either way I suppose.
Just to give you an idea of content, here is a screenshot of what has been uploaded in the last 4 days: (There is the 2nd half of the Preston match too but that is a big window at the top which wouldn't fit in the screenshot.)
Thanks. Can't see myself wading through player interviews and all that but I travel quite a bit so would probably watch under 23 games etc on dull train journeys.
Watched the match today, decent quality. Replays a lot better this season with commentary Although YTBFC s voice, bloody terrible
I signed up for the first time this season, glad I did cos as we've been away on hols a couple of times I've been able to listen to commentary on my pc online. I know it's only Radio Sheff's personnel but I couldn't have heard anything otherwise. The alternative is trying to pick up the scores on the internet or radio which isn't always possible. Tomorrow for example we live too far away to get Radio Sheff on the radio so Player has it, no probs.
