IF we do go down then can we take some seats out and have a standing section?

I don't mean safe standing, I mean standing. A terrace. Like at Yeovil.

If we could I'd probably rather be in League One to be honest.

And maybe get rid of the pie franchise as they may not think its worth it for a (small) club and get a local buisness in that uses local well known/liked produce.

Let's have a League One stadium.

League One pie vendor.

League One expectations.

Where do I renew my season ticket? It sounds brilliant.

Take them all out, as they won't need them

I'm sure it sounds like a crackpot idea but whether it's through economic reality in the face of unsustainable largesse by others (as I believe) or mismanagement and manipulated expectations (as others believe) there seems to be a strong feeling that we are not able to seriously compete with those clubs at the top of the Championship, let alone the Premiership. This impending relegation hasn't hit me as hard as did our previous one and I got to thinking why. Maybe it's because I'm older, maybe it's because I'm no longer a season ticket holder and am in fact only an occasional attender these days. But then I thought maybe it's because I've come to realise that the things I enjoy about supporting Barnsley are only very tenuously linked to success (which is just as well, really). Which got me to thinking that actually we might be in a position to take a step "back" towards football's (dare I say it working class?) roots and re-introduce some of the things which I loved about growing up with Barnsley FC in my life. Standing at matches was one of those things. As Marlon says, working with local suppliers could be another. It's probably just dazed and pointless nostalgia on my part but I'd be much more likely to make the trip North if the matchday experience was more like the one of my youth and less like the sterile one we're offered today ("Motion looks like progress").

Short answer - No.

Once you've been subject to the regulations regarding all seater stadia then you are stuck with it. Which is why, for example Rotherham were stuck with having to screw seats on the Tivoli, even though by the time their 3 year grace period was up after promotion to the Championship about 12 years ago, they had already gone back down.

Actually that's a positive there will be a few away grounds with proper standing to visit next season on.y had Yeovil this season and Peterborough a couple of years ago to remind me how good that is

Well, that's a shame. Not that we'd have done it anyway I know but still, one lives in hope.

As Farnham_Red says though, a few more standing away ends in League One if we do drop.

we stood and watched with a pint in our hands, fans from both clubs intermingled, plenty of banter but no trouble and hardly any swearing, reyt enjoyed it:cool:

Would you deny others the right to stand if it came to it .if it were done in an extremely safe and dignified manner

i wouldn't object to a standing area, probably wouldn't cost a lot to convert the lower tier of the west stand back to standing.

I've been to a total of 1 rugby match in my life. Why didn't I go back? I hated the standing. I felt unsafe like I could be pushed and fall over any second, there were huge men stood all around me so I could see naff all (and I'm not THAT short) and I generally felt lazy and wanted to sit down. Couldn't bear it.

It's not for everyone, I know. It might not even be for me every time, depending on who I went with. That's why I was asking about a standing section. I wasn't proposing ripping all the seats out and making everyone stand up.

Now hold on a cotton picking minute young man. I'm hoping for a leather armchair with foot stool for the coming season, with an option of a holder for drinks.
Is that too much to ask for? I don't think so!

Come and watch Fev Rovers for rest of season. Stand on terracing watching match with a pint and a pie :D

my match day experience at Oakwell consists of Driving to Oakwell with kids, watching game and driving home.

Fev games a day out for me, can drink uninterrupted throughout the game. If matches ever fell same day same time. I wouldn't be at Oakwell

Would cost a fortune as the entire lower tier would need removing, the land excavating and a new lower tier building with a different gradient than the existing one

Oakwell 30 years ago no trouble you must be joking, there was a steady stream of people being ejected every game, spitting, coin throwing and plenty of swearing.
