    What a waste of money

Should give to a hospital that looks after people not one that's incompetent

    Totally disagree

They were fantastic when my son had meningitis when first born

Of course they will make mistakes but there human after all

    Every hospital will be same

People don't realise when you pay private it's the same surgeon who works for NHS in normal hospitals on other days

I know this for a fact as
My partner works with surgeons at Sheffield and private hospitals at the weekend

Couldn't disagree any stronger they almost killed my daughter

Some serious shot going on in that place. It's going to be another Stafford

I cam see the hospital from my house yet I have to go to another hospital in either Wakefield or Sheffield to get proper treatment

If you want incompetence look no further than Huddersfield Royal.

I only have to look out of my window. I simply cannot go to that place

I would be negligent towards my children if I took them to barnsley.

Even in s dire emergency a thirty min trip is safer than I two min trip from obe end of Pogmoor to the other

It's in the hand of the health ombudsmen currently

I'm not in it for money, but I donate the whole amount of any compensation to Sheffield childrens hospital

One terrible case, tyrone, and we can only be glad she's okay, but you shouldn't tar a whole hospital with one brush. I've always found BDGH to be nothing but efficient and caring with various family members who've ended up there. Exemplary treatment. Like all hospitals, it's underfunded and the fantastic staff underpaid, but that's the world we're in. Good on Dicky and I hope the staff at Barnsley hospital carry on doing their great work.

Oh know I can go on
Giving neck breath oxygen a full pressure

Give a diabetic glucose forcing them to go in a hypo despite heart the person in in question challengeing
Send a person with dvthome telling their was a calf strain

You go into barnsley hospital you put your.life other line

If I took my children in I would expect. To.be prosecuted for negligence

It's my daughter's 22nd birthday today. She wouldn't have lived to see 22 hours had it not been for the fantastic work done by the doctors and nurses in the Special Care Baby Unit at BDGH. I can't comment on the care others have, or have not, received there, just what I & my family have.

Re: If only half of that is true it is a sad state of affairs because....

I lived in Barnsley for around 45 years and my daughter was delivered a BDGH and I was an in-patient there twice and as an out-patient on several occasions (70s 80s and 90s) and never had any complaints. My wife DID say the toilets in maternity (1987) were not cleaned on the Sunday and were pretty disgusting but the pre-natal, delivery and post natal care was excellent an quite advanced for its day..."birthing pool", "bean bags" etc options for delivery etc. options with a great midwife, pleasant bright rooms and friendly informal nurses.

If, as you say, standards have fallen to such a degree then the blame clearly lies with the Government(s) NHS (lack of) funding policies, top heavy management and not with the nursing or medical staff, all of whom, my experience found to be excellent.

That said Italy (at least here in the semi-rural area ) has even better Healthcare. Lower GP to patient ratios, highly trained hospital specialists and doctors and all the latest technology and techniques. You do pay a nominal sum for some treatment e.g. Colour HD ultrasound scans /blood tests costs vary according to what/how many things it is tested for) but little waiting using subsidised private organisations.

    For example
11am I went to GP (no appointments needed)...She told me to get a scan urgently...I phoned the Medical centre/labs and they said come at 3pm.

3pm I had 40 minute appointment and he gave me a folder (you are responsible for, and keep, your own medical records here) and paid 60 euros. It contained the scan images on DVD, results diagnosis and recommended treatment.

5pm I took this to my GP for evening surgery. She gave me the prescription (for thrombosis) and

5:30 I went to the Chemist to collect it.

6pm started my treatment (DIY blood thinning injections 3 times daily)

Given the consultant said it was "dangerous and urgent and if my GP was not available go to the hospital immediately NOT tomorrow but tonight " in the UK I might have not even got a GP appointment for a couple of days and probably had to wait for the results of the test.

I know someone here who was recently diagnosed with cancer and started chemo and radiotherapy treatment within 2 weeks of going to see the GP (also got a full body scan at the hospital the same day she went to the GP). I think she paid around 150 euros but that covers her for the entire treatment - consultant appointments any ops etc)

The NHS may be held up as a shining light but I have to say the Italian model seems to work well (although I suspect is very expensive for the Italian Govt) They put National Health before budget though. Much is spent on screening / preventative medicine programs. All children are assigned a paediatrician when registering with the GP.

Re: If only half of that is true it is a sad state of affairs because....

If itsdown to cuts, why is Sheffield and Wakefield so much better

If it its down to cuts why have barnsley hospital fitted a brand new thirty-foot sign on Pogmoor Road

I can't see how Cutsdean be responsible for an sho putting a mask with full pressure oxygen on a neck breather. That's just incompetence
