For 3 years http://m.s****horpetelegraph.co.uk/...pe-supporter/story-30124793-detail/story.html sorry if already posted. Surley the scunny fan who hit him first should also be banned!
Known Jad years. Good lad. Like most lads, sticks up for himself. I'd love to know what's happened to the other lad?!?
I know Jad too and hes a top lad. Big reds fan but like most of us, he didnt take too kindly to getting whacked in the face. Hope the Scunny fan got banned too, he picked on wrong lad.
I agree, but I think mr Ambler's response to being hit in the face was rather extreme. There can't be any justification for putting somebody in hospital other than self-defence and this clearly wasn't self-defence. Also there is no mention of why he was hit by the Scunny fan, was it totally unprovoked? I suspect not.
The article says 'He reacted by indiscriminately throwing punches at his 25-year-old victim in a reckless attack'. So I'm assuming this lad he put in hospital, may not have been the person who hit him first? Working link to article - https://goo.gl/FNgwk7 Checking his facebook page, and whoever did hit him, certainly picked on the wrong bloke.
Im aware of the details of what occured and Jad was not looking for trouble at all, he was on the train with his children and I believe one S****horpe fan in particular was being drunkenly abusive towards Jad and more importantly his children, which eventually led to the scunny fan assaulting Jad. Ok it could be argued he went too far but faced with a situation where your children are being verbally abused and yourself physically (and remember there were many scunny fans in his party) then I think I would react the same way, as would many I think.
Hi mate, thanks for the info, that certainly sheds a little more light on the situation. It's a pity the report in the Scunny Telegraph doesn't explain a bit more about the incident, it suggests to me that they were deliberately playing down the role of the Scunny fan. His reaction is a little more understandable but I still can't see how putting somebody in hospital can be justified. Further to that it doesn't set a great example to his kids.
If someone whacks you, and you whack them back then they may well end up in hospital. You may well even kill them with one punch. So the "hospital" aspect is largely irrelevant - it's a matter of whether your response was proportionate in terms of self defence.
Got to disagree brush. What was he supposed to do give him one back and then ask if they was even? Someone on we are barnsley facebook page saw it take place and said the scunny fans were looking for it. By sounds they have just picked on the wrong fella and got hurt
Hi mate, I got some more info earlier and his reaction is a little more understandable. Still different to mine, I would have concentrated on getting my kids away from a crowd of Scunny fans looking for trouble rather than just picking on one and leaving the kids to fend for themselves if the rest of them waded in.
Smashing a bloke's face in is not protecting your family, I would have thought it was an invitation for the bloke's mates to join in to help him. Besides, I wouldn't turn my back, I'd get my kids behind me and back away (assuming of course that was possible in the confines of a train etc). It just feels to me that his reaction was extreme and that he was effectively out of control.
Fair point, however, "He reacted by indiscriminately throwing punches at his 25-year-old victim in a reckless attack" doesn't sound like a measured response to me. Also he had to be threatened with a taser before he calmed down. It's a sad reflection of the world we live in.
Is it the same lad that got banned for 3 years after trouble in Cardiff, and tried having a pop at a cetain Mr Willard ? Just asking !
Definitely from the Willard incident. I think there's a reference to it in Mark Hodkinson's book Life at the Top.
Might not be same bloke, but certainly the same name as mentioned in Life at the top by Mark Hodkinson
Seems to be the same one from Cardiff but no confirmation re Willard. http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/england/south_yorkshire/3238651.stm The bloke who ran on to discuss the running of the Liverpool game with Willard ran on from just in front of where I was sitting at the time in the East Stand Lower Tier near the edge of the penalty area at the North Stand end. I only saw the back of him and then a few stewards intercept him.
