Well for a start I think Heckers deserves a medal for the position hes put us in. Anyway barring injuries and suspenions what do we think his team should be for the upcoming games ? Lets look at the defenders & keeper to begin with eh in what should be a straight back 4... Davies, Yiadom, Roberts, MacDonald, Jones. Who agrees or disagrees here, and this before we even get onto the subject of midfielders & strikers (which Im looking forward to ).
Definitely think thats our strongest back 4. Ideally after a transfer window ud like to think you wouldnt be still playing people out of position although jones has done well at left back.
I thought that was the case but in the games I've seen of him he's looked composed and in control at left back and like a fish out of water at right back and by the sounds of it he did well at left back again last night. We seem to have a habit of having right backs who are comfortable at left back these days. Jones, Yiadom, Williams. Not long back we had full backs who weren't even very good in their own position (Kennedy, Wiseman etc). Then again James Bree, but he was out weakest defender of the last two years so I guess he doesn't count.
Agree defence picks itself Davies Yiadom (player of the season) Roberts McDonald Jones Watkins James Moffat (if Scowen is injured) Hammill Armstrong Bradshaw
I think the official tag on Gethin is that hes a right back, but thats still unclear to us isn't it. Ive been impressed with Adam Davies again this season despite the dodgy start, and Angus MacDonald has done really well in 'replacing' Alfie Mawson to team up with the always reliable Mark Roberts. After coming back from intl duty Andy Yiadom seems to have found his place at the back again along with Jones as fellow 'backs'.
Ok then lads, who wants to make the first 'strike' here on this thread lol. Lets look at our strikers now eh and this is a harder discussion than our defenders & keeper isn't it
Villa were totally fecked when Jones come on last night. Elder was having a bit of a nightmare and Villa were constantly attacking him. When Jones come on he defended really well and Villa were lost for ideas then
Yes Ive heard of that before actually where a good tactical defensive substitution, can lead to a winning game plan.
