The ironic cheer when he played the ball down the middle today was totally uncalled for. It was clearly a tactic he'd been told to use a couple of games ago when he kept aiming for the player on the touchline and I saw Wilson frantically signalling for him to do so again today, but he didn't give the ball away much today. Their keeper, on the other hand, seemed to be kicking the ball out of play for fun today, particularly in the second half. At one point he knocked the ball out of play three times on the trot. It really isn't just our keepers that do it!

Didn't notice his kicking - much better than we've been used to over the last few years

I agree. He'd definitely been instructed to do just that.

I actually think his distribution is really good. Highlighted by a perfect ball to Cole in the first half

Never understood why anyone gets on at keepers over their kicking. We've never conceded a goal because we've given away a throw in 10 yards inside the opposition half.

The tactic was clearly to aim for Nyatanga out wide. A couple of times Turnbull over hit it. He's aiming for a guy's head, 60 yards away, who is stood on the touchline. Unsurprisingly 'keepers sometimes get it a little too high. But, as archey says above, if it does go out it's no real advantage to the opposition. We get our team behind the ball and have every chance of winning it back. Get your kick wrong down the centre and it really can lead to trouble.

Instructed tactic, first half. Second half, not so much.

Some good kicks, some bad. Meh.

We've two lads up front, one who doesn't even challenge for headers never mind win them & another who gives it a try but loses a lot more than he wins so the obvious tactic is to kick to someone likely to win the header like Nyatanga.

    Good idea for me

Sure the kick down the middle that raised the cheer, lead to one of our goals?

Doh! Your right, think it must have lead to a decent chance or something. But yes, it was kicking away from Ponty first half, so no goals.

It was the same with Steele, they do the bread and butter of their job really well yet some think it is supportive to cheer ironically when they dont kick it out.

I reckon you need to go to the doctors and get your hearing tested mate. Really , I do , because if you never heard it then either you do need to wear a hearing aid , or your are totally deaf , or you never went to a match when Steele was in the goals and I know you must have done because YOU have complained plenty about him !
