A little back street local's place in Venice called Anice Stellato a couple of years ago. Lamb encrusted in pistachios was amazing. And Peking duck in a Michelin starred restaurant in Hong Kong on our honeymoon. They prepare it for 24 hours first but my wife was a bit freaked out when they presented it whole - beak still on, wings outstretched. Luckily they took it away and turned it in to multiple courses for us. Closer to home there's a fantastic little restaurant in Whitby called Ditto. Better than loads of famous more expensive places in the UK. And another little place in York called Cafe No. 8.
Me and the Mrs keep saying we'll go to Star In the City as a few people have told us it was good. Got any other favourites round York ark104 (v2)? Always good to have a few recommendations
Daniel in New York, 3 Michelin stars and it was unbelievable. In this country maybe The Man Behind The Curtain in Leeds. The tasting menu is summat different and definitely an experience.
It's certainly not bad, but it's expensive good pub food. More expensive than lots of better places in York. Although the Breakfast brunch menu is really nice. Cafe No. 8 on Gillygate is definitely my favourite. I used to like El Gaucho, Argentinian steak place on Walmgate but not been in for a while. Rice Style on Bishy Rd is a lovely Thai place and Ambiente tapas place on Goodramgate. There's a Nepalese restaurant down there too called Yak and Yeti but haven't been yet. For Indian, Mumbai Lounge on Fossgate. If you're in at lunch time I like The Duke of York in Kings Square. Cracking pub food and real ale/craft beer and child friendly too! Same for the Guy Fawkes on Petergate. Also the food in House of Trembling Madness is as good as the beer, if you can get a table...
Klosterschänke in Bad Hersfeld, Germany. £30 gets you 1kg of steak cooked to perfection and a litre of beer.
The broomhead friery sheffield , next to the old grindstone, crookes, fish and chips out of a wrapper on a cold day. Immense. Failing that the fat duck, or aureole in Las Vegas
I had the Wagu steak at Goodmans, Gally. The lobster bisque that came with it was immense. For fine dining belly buster in London try Hawksmere. The French dip for starts is something else. Great selection of Gin as well. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
The food on Concorde en route to New York was class. Thought it would be rushed, but no, pure class. As it was on the Orient Express. Probably my favourite ever dining experience (as was the Pullman on the English leg) When it comes to hotel dining, Cipriani and Waldorf Astoria are well up there. Restaurants that left an impression include Langans in London (not a lot of people know that) Best ever was a restaurant in Venice, I struggle to remember the name - would struggle to find it again) - simply culinary and ambience heaven. A night outside at Julios, Carvoeiro, Algarve is also an experience. And I like the Tempest Arms at Broughton near Skipton Hoping hospitality @ Oakwell meets my expectations this Saturday ☺ #50 Sent from my SM-T800 using Tapatalk
Yes Ambiente in York does lovely tapas. Pinchura I Leeds is a nice tapas place and has over 40 gins to chose from and fantastic staff.
Also near Windermere is a pub called Brown Horse in Wincester. Best Sunday I have had was from there.
