Prefer a minutes applause personally. Celebrate his life.

I'd go with a minute's silence personally. I find it gives more of a chance to think and reflect on memories than clapping does. I'll happily join in either though of course, absolutely devastating news.

Bet Norman was brought up with a respectful minutes silence..not applause. Silence please.

Minutes silence is certainly more respectful for a man from Norman's generation. But... The players knew and loved him too so might that set the game off with a somber tone and affect our chances of another fine tribute - 3 points??
Maybe the minutes appreciation, 'Rimmo' chant and/or mobile phone light show during the game would give the whole stadium a lift.
Whatever is chosen shall be a moving and fitting tribute, on the day. Longer term, rename The West Stand, training ground, commission a statue... there won't be another like him.
