If true, that others are to be sold, I wonder what are Hecky's feelings in all this, seeing so much of his hard work undermined by sales - when we're 8th in the league and in no need of immediate financial input.

It must have a potentially demoralising effect on him.

Maybe but he has to have been expecting it.

You're right, there's tax and National Insurance to deduct, but on a rough calculation I reckon it still leaves him with around £450,000 a year net.

If PC put our top dozen players on similar salaries, he'd be faced with a wage bill of around £11million a year, plus the salaries of the other squad players to add to that. A complete impossibility.

Football's gone mad, much of it caused by the huge sums poured in by Sky and BT.

I don't think anyone on this board is expecting us to match the wages, it's impossible for us to do so. We are p*ssed that he's been sold for 500k.

It's coming out that it's well over a million, maybe closer to 2.

I suppose it'll come out in the wash. Not sure who we can get into replace him, anyone coming up from league 1/2 will take a while to acclimatise - like Winnall himself did. Ah well, it was good while it lasted.

Wouldn't have thought so , he will no doubt be disappointed at losing him , but Hecky's a pro too , faces coming and going is the nature of the game . If the pay is better you go for it while it's available . Don't for get it cuts two ways and if a player breaks a leg or does the cruciate and is no longer considered good enough for a club they are gone at the first opportunity.

I've seen people say TalkSPORT and 5 Live said it was £2 million. The club may say something like 'undisclosed fee but much higher than the one widely reported'

I can't blame Sam tbh for that money he'd be crazy not to go. It also shows how well we're doing when teams a few places above us can offer than much to a player who won't even be first choice

Dunno pal, we've not seen the best of Armstrong yet, and Bradshaw (imho) is where Winnall was when he first came here - not all doom n gloom

We could charge SWFC prices for tickets.

Sorry to say it but if you want to keep "top end of the Championship" players, you need to charge similar prices to watch them.

It just goes to show that he's made the move solely for financial reasons.

Wednesday okay Forestieri in the 10. role behind one striker & Winnall's not suited to been a lone striker.

Even him & his agent will know he's not good enough to play for a top end championship side as a lone striker. He needs a partner up top.

He'll end up been a sub who they bring on to try & rescue a point or get two extra.

Don't mind him wanting to leave but there's four championship clubs he shouldn't have considered if he had any respect for us. They're Wednesday, Leeds, Huddersfield & Bristol

Bear in mind, if SW was on a reported £3K a week at Oakwell, that's a hefty £150k a year - which more than the Prime Minister.

    Hardly small change.

Good luck to him, we have Armstong and Bradshaw to lead the line every bit as good and a lot quicker not scored as many goals granted but not played as many games.
My only hope is that no one else leaves and I wish Barnsley f.c. would get down to Wigan and sign up Morsy we'll miss Morsy more than Winnall in my opinion.
