Modern workplace, anyone below first rung of management ladder are plebs. People who actually do the jobs are not consulted or asked for their input when changes are being discussed. Indeed, any opinions are seen as dissenting, disruptive and negative. Basically, just do as you are told coz their are plenty out there who'll take your place.
The general rule of the workplace is that people who climb the ladder keep getting promoted until their final promotion is to a position beyond their competence. It doesn't just affect the top of the ladder, there are people at every stage up in lots of companies who have gone one step beyond their competence level.
I don't know where you work [actually, it would be quite interesting to know, but you can't post that now], but all companies seem to have some ****ing idiot in a managerial position or two who are ****ing up the entire company. You look around and often wonder how the fecking **** some people get into there positions. /rant Next rant, PR/Marketing and HR people. **** the lot of them. [edit - sorry for the foul language. I've just watched Not Going Out and I've got a particular word on the brain]
They are just very ambitious psychopaths. Most people don't want power some do. I have seen it at every level from charge hands and foremen in Industry to Senior Management level in Further and Higher Education. They can talk the talk. I had one temp job which lasted 5 years and during that time I saw 5 managers come and go. One had actually managed a failed training provider which she owned, and and got a job in one of the largest Colleges in England. She lasted 10 months and 3 of them were on garden leave. The job paid over £50k. She is still flitting from one high paid job to another.
