    Crapita is the old Ventura, with probably 1-2000 mostly part-time. Also got Next, the shops at Cortonwood, and at least one more call centre. Can't remember what else is there, but probably a similar amount to ASOS in total - although those will mostly count as Rotherham for employment statistics.

    If we'd left Manvers to the UK government it would still be the toxic remains of a train yard.

    There was significant funding from the EU for Manvers. Not that this thread is owt to do with the EU anyway.

    Poorer pay than the rest of the country is a result of Thatcher's decimation of the mining industry and the subsequent punishment of the area by the tories starving us of investment but people are daft enough to vote em in so probably deserve what they get.

    No, I suppose without the likes of Manvers and ASOS, the average wage *could* be higher, but unemployment would be higher too...
