I think the guy is awesome but i'll carry him to Villa park for that price Its just what club needs, we haven't sold anyone for decent coin since young Flinders and going back to Higgy and Wardy Get some young lad coming other way for next to nowt and we'll take League 1 by storm next season he he he
Yes we should Personally, I don't think he's worth that and I'd snap the hands off anyone willing to pay 3 million for him
Brian Howard's only worth £300 000 in today's market? Really? Sorry mate, but in my humble opinion you're inaccurate in your assessment.
maybe 20% no way is he worth 3million though. How many championship sides have made him look anonymous this season? The answer is a lot. Don't get me wrong, he's a good player but he's not a million pound plus player, he can be lazy at times, arogant at others and he went through a 2 month period of doing absolutly nothing.
How much is de silva worth then? Take away brian howards penalties and you've got a good midfielder with a decent strike rate.
Howard is under contract for another year Da silva was out of contract. Brian Howard is English - that seems to make a big difference to values. If Chris Brunt was worth 3m BH is worth 5m!
I take your point about brunt but he was never worth 3m either. Just like mattis isnt worth 75k and mostto not 400k. Some clubs are stupid with money but it doesnt make the player worth that amount.
How much he is worth depends on how much we want to keep him and how much a potential buying club wants him. If the circumastances are right the price could be greater than 3m.
I thought that the club had slapped a £5 million tag on him to put off bidders. At thi rate, he will be involved in a bidding war and we should get our £5 million in any case.
A player is worth what a potential buyer is willing to pay. West Brom were prepared to pay £3m for Brunt, so that was his market value. It didn't matter what the Wednesday fans, Barnsley fans or anyone else, for that matter, thought he was worth. That's the price Sheffield Wednesday received. If Aston Villa or Everton were prepared to pay £3m for Howard (and Barnsley were willing to accept the offer), then that's what we would receive, provided Brian Howard wanted to make the move, too.
£2 million for Hignett. Is Howard one million better? Even with inflation? Howard has been superb for us, and he does deserve the chance to play in the top flight, if it comes along. As for the money, I think £3 million is enough for us to let him go. In all honesty, I think they'd let him go for £1 million actually.
Good job I read this far down. Agree with every word Kev. If market forces dictate that's what he's worth, then that's what he's worth. Same applies to salaries, obscene though they are. If soemone's prepapred to pay it, only an idiot would turn it down.
