Is the alleged wage picked up by both COG and Cranie. So say 'ITK' types on twitter. ********, surely?
They didn't refer to anybody but COG and Cranie. I've been 'told' before that Steele took a cut from 6k a week last season, and that TK and Jennings were around 4 to 5k a week. But how these people know, I have no idea. I only know one footballers wage. He dunt play for us though, unfortunately.
Okay. I've been sat there and people are telling me someones wages and you never know. One was O'brien.
We're never likely to know. I know from personal experience that the only folk who know a players wage are their family or partners, occasionally their mates/teammates. I suppose folk could then let things slip, but still. For us, we're just guessing.
Sounds like a lot, but I really have no idea. I would have guessed half of that, but that's based on nothing at all. According to Extremely Northern who has seen the accounts ending May 2013, our annual wage bill was £7.7 million. Two players on 8 grand a week would leave us with just under £7 million for the rest of the wages. You could have 65 players on 2 grand a week for that! The £7.7 million will include all staff: players, coaches, admin, everyone, but it's entirely feasible that the highest earning players could be on so much.
But they're second hand aren't they? Once upon a time not so long ago actually, I would have been willing to spilleth the beans. But it serves no purpose does it? I'll stick to interviewing former BFC players for WSB and my blog and sharing what they have to say. Easier.
2 players everyone wanted the club to retain, held all the chips as it were. Seems this new era of negotiating better probably just meant giving players more money.
