    Can we do it?

If we keep Conor I don't see why not.

There is a decent case for him staying til the end of the season. And a decent case for rejecting anything under 5m

This is a very good team. Keep it together and add a few and we've every chance.

I just don't feel we've got a board that can make that happen though.

    The board has little choice.
Connor has been offered 5 times his current earnings
He can walk for free in 19 games

    As someone famous once said

    You do the math

Just hope wee move to get someone in. We are very light in the middle after losing morsy anyway. But as good as conor is we have more to our team.

Watkins and Scowen for two. Both out of contract at the end of the season, which is very worrying.

Its is and that's a bigger worry because we could get them tied down to new deals. But it feels as if we are not even trying. Hope this is not the case.

After yesterday's performance I anticipate a large bid for Conor this week.

It seems the club is at a crossroads at the moment and circumstances are shoving us down the road we'd rather not take. The Play-offs are within reach if we added to the squad, lower mid-table is beckoning should we lose key players. Difficult for the club due to the contracts situation (a recurring theme, not all the club's fault granted) but I honestly believe we are on the cusp of something pretty special, the likes of which may take years to come around again. More's the pity that off the field we are in a weak position, with our owner ill, chairman spinning many plates and no CEO. Perhaps if we were firing on all cylinders at Board level, we could have attacked January with real gusto, added to the squad quickly and if we had to sell, replacements already lined up. I do feel an opportunity is maybe being missed to have a real crack at the top 6, but until the window closes we cannot properly evaluate how the club has handled the period.

What we can do though is look after what we currently have. I think it is absolutely vital that Scowen, Watkins and Davies are all offered new deals very soon. Connor Hourihane is rightly attracting all the attention but Josh Scowen was tremendous last night and I actually think makes us tick just as much as our captain. To lose those on free transfers, possibly £3-5m of talent in todays market, would be a huge body blow and a real sickener.
