Not bad for a Second Division match. Not a great game to watch, especially for the Villa fans. They probably thought they just had to turn up to walk the league
Congrats Fulham. I was surprised there were so few attempts at goal from either side in this game, particularly Villa.
Too many of the 'dark arts' on display for me. I have never recently thought of Fulham as a dirty team, as they have consistently played such brilliant passing football, but the way they targeted Jack Grealish was criminal and, had it not been a final, which Andy Taylor clearly wanted to flow, I think they would have ended with about nine-a-side. With players like Jedinak and Terry, you expect Villa to know the rules of rough and tumble, though. Jack Grealish, on the other hand, must have been to the Robert Pirez (remember him?) school of diving, given how easily he went down appealing to the ref. What a stand-out player, though, in terms of skill. That dribble deserved a goal at the end. In its style, it was an absolute thriller, but it is sad to see so much gamesmanship packed into ninety minutes.
Not to mention Grealish nearly cutting that Fulham player in half. Thought overall Fulham deserved it on the day and over the season. I used to quite like a Villa but they just got more arrogant both the fans and this attitude that they could just buy their way to promotion, which apparently could now come back and bite them in the arse according to some reports. It would be ironic now if they get their best players stripped by premiership clubs
