Regardless of his politics or people's views on him I can't be alone in thinking it is absolutely scandalous that taxpayers are paying millions upon millions for security of a TWO night visit by him that has meant road closures left right and centre, security check points, no fly zones, armed police in rooftops, armed helicopters and military aircraft etc when we don't give anything like that level of security to OUR Queen or prime minister.

Why is the head of state of a foreign country afforded such over the top expensive protection by us but our head of state gets a car with tinted windows?

And let's not ignore the fact that a lot of this money was spent not with him on official business but him HOLIDAYING at his personally owned property.
Have a break in at your house and if you're lucky the police will come out 4 days later but trump gets dozens of armed police stationed at his property just in case anything happens.

Heres an idea. If he's so hateful that he knows people dislike him that much he feels threatened then let HIM pay for private security like any other celebrity does

He's basically had to be smuggled in and out of the country and shielded like a mobster in witness protection.

And the vast cost of hiring the hotel and course will get charged to either the US taxpayer or UK and the profit will end up in his pocket.

US have paid more of the costs incurred, including most of the OTT security you see, we have spent a fair bit too, but don’t forget a lot of that was for extra Police to mo it or the protests. As an example Scotland Police are quoting £5 million for 5,000 extra Police due to planned protests.

Cutting left right and centre here but can find money for this visit because we must have paid out a huge chunk for it. And as regards the balloon it's ok to fly one of Trump (and I couldn't care less) but would Kahn allowed one of a Muslim leader? NOT A CHANCE!!!

For trade and national security who needs who more , we need the US or the US needs UK. I'd presume due to the Brexit position we need them so im not sure how protesting abusing the bloke that will make this decision helps.

If we can get through alone then no bother I don't like him either if not then let's hope we don't drop in to a long recession and get involved in any wars, simplistic view I know but it appears that simple to me and if this visit helps secure a stronger position for our country then good, money well spent.

Couldn’t have said it better. Personally I’d rather pay now and have a long term alliance (security/ possible trade negotiations) with the US. Short term knee jerk reactions, despite their validity don’t generally help.

I'd hope that in two years time we'd be dealing with a Democratic President and government. In the meantime I'd prefer us to stick closer to the EU regulations on food standards etc than cut a desperate deal with the US that allows their chemical filled food produce etc into the UK.

I'm sure we have hosted heads of state from country's who have awful human rights and enforce dogmatic religious laws.

You say "regardless of politics" but you wouldn't have complained if it was Obama, in fact nobody did.

But he was slick and cool and all style no substance.

Politics should be about policies hence the name, not appearance.

Don't tell me what I would and wouldn't have done. How arrogant and condescending can you get?

Also what is the point in saying IF Obama visit had cost the same? If? It simply didn't.

Yes he owns it but it will still get charged to the government for all the security staffs rooms etc. All that goes back to his pocket.

Would have been a cheaper trip if those who rightly moan about Tory police cuts, didn't put even more pressure on the budget by doing a pointless protest that cost a fortune, that wouldn't have bothered that idiot Trump in the slightest.

That's more necessary than putting a strain on police by doing protests that change absolutely nothing. If only he had some actual proper competition instead of it being another Clinton. Now he's probably going to get elected for a second term, as most tend to do. He's going to mention black and hispanic unemployment going down on his watch, that's he's opened again factories in poor states such as Michigan and trying to make sure NATO pay their 2%. He runs a divided nation and I aren't sure who can beat him by bringing everyone together against him. It's a shame The Rock has said he won't run :D

People do seem keen to protest against trump , but with Obama everyone thought he was a lovely fella . The truth is obama was horrible , probably worse than trump . Those immigration prisons where children get separated from their parents , all set up by Obama . Yemen, Syria , lybia all under Obama . I could go on but there s too much to list. I'd have some respect for the protestors if they were at least consistent , but by protesting trump and not Obama shows me how clueless they are .
