Some real confidence boosting headlines on the back page of the Chronicle this week - such as:

'We are going to have to sell players admits Hecky'

'Boss: we have to be light again next season'

Absolutely disgusting they continue to lie about making a loss and needing to sell. Greedy ba5tards knew what they were doing in January when they sold us out and will continue to do so. Won't be renewing until they stop taking us for mugs.

Go on then the pair of you. What have we done differently to any other year. We have always sold players for the club to be able to continue. Been watching 37 years, always sold, always will.
Don't like it, don't watch. It really is that simple.

    **** me! I've done!

I thought we were never going to sell a player ever again.

We'll never have a veterans side at oakwell now!

    Sack the board!

Unless you have a wonderful sense of humour and love to ridicule Nudge, please do not renew. You know it makes sense.

They keep taking you for a mug year after year. It's time for this to stop.

How they could treat you in this way is beyond the wit of man.

    Truly disgusting.

I'd refuse to bother with anything associated with this horrible football club.

Like posting on here for example.

    Time to find another hobby.

There is a difference between selling players and 'having to sell players'. I would hope that we'd at least try, without being financially frivolous, to keep our best players and build from there.

And I have renewed so I'm still supporting the club but that doesn't make me immune from concern.

And what if those players were adamant they wanted to leave. Hourihane is as bad as Winnall and Bree here. Talking days before he moved of how he couldn't turn down working for Bruce. Well I hope he enjoys his money, cos the Villa fans are already turning on him.
Oh and when did Bruce become this superhuman manager.

Can you let us know your seat number then? If it's decent I might take it for my ST.

If a player doesn't want to be here then I'd let them go (once it was clear that they were beyond persuasion). In this case the headline should be very different, we should make it clear the player wanted to leave despite attempts to retain them.

I haven't read the interview so I don't know the context. I just think the headline is unnecessarily negative, particularly at this time of year.

Don't you think Doug Okane generally comes across that way himself though?

Well that headline is written by the Chronicle to hopefully sell more copies of the Chronicle. It is not designed to benefit the club. Like all newspapers, they create a story where there isn't one.

I can't say I've really taken much notice of him. I hardly ever read the Chronicle anymore.

I would not be happy reading that if I was Hecky or was in a senior position at the club. I'd certainly be reminding them that interviews are not an obligation.

Headline should have read Barnsley MAY have to sell players.

Context is key here - what Hecky actually says is that we will have to sell players if we are to progress from being one of the lowest budget teams in the league. He also says we will only sell at the right price. Makes perfect sense to me. Buy low, sell high, buy a bit higher with higher wages next time. Sell high, and carry on. However, the more hysterically orientated members of the BBS have already taken it to mean that there will be a fire sale of everyone including the turnstile operators in the summer, otherwise we'll be going bankrupt.

Absolutely, context is everything but the headline leaves a lot to be desired because after a terrible January transfer window and fairly mediocre last couple of months the last thing fans want to see is a negative headline, even if it is a little misleading.

As I've posted before - under the present circumstances I think we should sell - we need to sell at the right time and for the right money - and that time is now.

But my point was this...........'the headline is unnecessary negative'

What's the Chronicle trying to do - put a dampener on things before Hecky has time to sort the squad out???
    Absolutely ridiculous.
