When I first saw the flag of Patrick Cryne and Reverend Preedy last season I thought something more longer lasting would be more apt. What are your thoughts on maybe a statue featuring both men perhaps shaking hands as a lasting tribute to what they did for this club.
I think Patrick Cryne wouldn't want a statue of him, kind of goes against everything he was as a man. But I agree, there should be something more permanent down at Oakwell to commemorate both Cryne and Preedy...
If this becomes a serious proposition then I will release the letters I received from his solicitors to make sure this never, ever happens. And that will just be the start of it.
Yes good idea Mario,I've just got the vision of the two men shaking hands a little like the miner and glassblower that represents the town with the logo "one made us one saved us" a lasting memorial to both men.
Ive said it before, If i was the billionaire owner of this club, when i built a new west stand, id turn the south west corner into remembrance corner, It would be made of marble, at the top would be 3 statues made of brass looking out on to the pitch, one side the rev holding his book of fiction, in the middle Patrick in his wembley suit with the league one trophy in one hand and JPT in the other, at the other side Rimo. Below them would be a big brass well with brass oak leaves on the top, so the ashes of departed reds fans can be placed in it. Would finish the stadium off perfectly if done right.
The best thing that could have happened for their memories is the players could have kept us in the championship for Patrick.
The best thing that could have happened is that we kept the players that could have kept us in the championship for everyone.
Think it's up to Patrick's family. I would like something for Rimmo as well but don't think his family are keen either so we have to respect their wishes. It would be a great tribute but fans don't need to be reminded about their place in our history
