Calm play, no panic and with steadier finishing, we could have had a similar scoreline to the one at Fulham. We've obviously had our limit of penalties for this season, as that one on Woodrow was as blatant as it gets! Hull upped the ante in the second half, but our defence were solid, ensuring they rarely got round the back. Even on the two occasions they did get through, they found Collins in fine form. For the second game running, I was relaxed and confident that our team would comfortably see out a 1-0 lead. Avoiding relegation will still be a huge task, but these recent performances have given us all hope. Well done, lads. Sollbauer was MOTM for me, Halme & Collins close behind.
That should read “another well deserved victory last night” Agree re defensive trio, I thought Halme was huge and Collins’ most assured performance so far for the reds. I thought I was watching Man City during the first half. Think Collins will win JVs MOTM vote
Totally agree. I hope we continue to play good football and don't get sucked into a siege mentality and start trying to scrap for the points. We're winning by playing good football.
I couldn’t believe more wasn’t made of the “tackle” on Woodrow. The defender totally cleaned him out and got absolutely nothing of the ball. It was nervy at the end but we did what we had to do. Deserved 3 points.
I honestly believe all three recent victories were well deserved. The pleasing aspect for me, is that after the basic mistakes we had been making, the boys have now managed to keep three consecutive clean sheets which is commendable. Another plus point, is that none of the three results has been " flukey" and in Fulham, Middlesbrough and Hull City, we were playing against teams who probably have greater resources in that in the recent past, they had plied their trade in the Premiership.
10 points from the last 5 games, hopefully they can keep this form, we would be safe if so. And yes I thought it was a stone wall penalty too.
Agreed pretty much with all the above -defensive unit was great and we were very strong going forward. One churlish point I would make is that our finishing was somewhat lacking. Browny Chaplin and Thomas had enough chances to finish off 5 games! Much as I like all of the above players it just shows the value of Cauley to us - priceless at the moment. COYR!
We aren't going to go unbeaten for the rest of the season, so it'd make a pleasant change if some folk don't over react when the inevitable happens.
Calmer finishing will certainly help our cause. But I'd be more worried were we not to be creating chances, rather than missing some of the ones we make.
It's disappointment and frustration not over reaction for me, solely because of our collective love and concern for our famous old club.
