He has but no real competition for his place. We spent the summer chasing mcburnie and three dozen midfielders not a goalie
Mentioned this after the garbage against villa he only needs to turn up and he's in shocking state if affairs
He's a good keeper on his day but his errors are wearing a bit thin with me. Doubt he'd keep his place at many other clubs....
Today's goal seemed to go straight through him. It moved a bit in the air, but his confidence looks shot. I like him, I rate him, but he's struggling at the moment.
He ain't a terrible keeper let's be real. Makes some very good saves but his footballing brain is so slow. You can see when he catches the ball, he doesn't know whether to release it early or not, then by time he's realised what to do it's too late anyway. Same with him coming off his line like against Villa, comes, then doesn't know whether to go back and the hesitation costs us.
Last season he was at fault for several long range efforts plus a couple of dropped crosses leading to goals. Distinctly average goalie.
By that you mean long. I suppose kicking it out for a goal kick at their end is better than reaching the half way line for a thrown in to them
He is a good shot stopper when he has to react immediately but he does seem to let in a fair few long shots. I've got to say though, in the general opposite direction of this thread, I like Davies. And I'd guess he's saved us a lot more points than he's cost us in the time he's been here.
I think if a keeper is finding that distance and it's straight, as it was, then it's a good opportunity to put pressure on their defence. Our forwards should have reacted and moved up the pitch taking the defenders with them. I'm not a big fan of route one, but we should have used the distance he was getting to much better effect.
