...yet some will still say 'yeah, but his kicking isn't fantastic'. Really irks me to hear and read folk criticising him. Last season he was in a team totally devoid of confidence, so the odd mistake was inevitable. You can't put a number on the points he, alone, has earned us this season, but I can guarantee it'd be well into double figures. And yet we may well lose him in the summer which will be devastating, because as well as a fantastic keeper, rumour has it that he is a fantastic bloke to have around the club and a great captain, despite not being the most vocal out on the pitch. Adam - if you're reading this, please stay. I will even give you my old Steve Ogrizovic training gloves from 1987. I honestly think Jordan Pickford is more prone to a mistake than the Adam Davies of this season.
Last season he was beaten by just about every shot from18 yards and beyond. This season our defenders have stopped those shots coming in.
He wasn't great last season let's be honest but alot can be put down to confidence and changing the back 4 every other game. Can't fault him this season he will be in the championship with or without us.
Ryan Giggs has apparently hinted that having watched Adam Davies in action recently, he could well hand him his first start for Wales in the friendly with Trinidad and Tobago.
I've been at games when people have been getting on his back. There was one 60 something bloke away at Charlton that concentrated on him. Imagine if that was your son and you had to listen to that kind of abuse from people that are meant to be there in support of the team. I often hear people criticising Davies and wonder if that's really their opinion, or are they just repeating someone else parrot fashion.
Hope he does, Adam deserves it and it makes it more worthwhile fur him to miss our game on Saturday .
He had a shaky season last season (a one off in his career). This season he's been superb. Rare you see a 'keeper below the Premier League who is as good as Adam at coming out and blocking shots by spreading himself so well. That montage shows some superb keeping. Hope he signs a new deal.
Deservedly criticised last season and deservedly praised this. Only really poor performance I can recall is Oxford away.
One-off? I thought he was worse the season before, the "clearance" that gave Winnall a goal for Wednesday and the "punch" that gave Northampton an equaliser in the League Cup being two of the worst of quite a few. Are you seriously saying he wasn't wearing contacts before when he should have been? That explains a lot. It would be a shame to lose him now that he's having a good season after a couple of dodgy ones but it looks like he's going to leave.
You mean the season where he topped the league stats for saves and save completion and kept 14 clean sheets in a team that conceded 66 goals, yeah but because of two mistakes (one in a game that didn't matter) he was woeful.
I might be wrong, but I could have sworn there was a news story about him going for laser surgery on his eyes before pre-season started.
I’m enjoying Adam sticking the words of his detractors down their throats as it was so blatantly obvious he would. One poor season where we managed him appallingly doesn’t make a poor player.
Every keeper is going to make a few mistakes a season that’s just football. I’m sure if the poster could think of anymore mistakes he made that season he would’ve listed them but could only think of two. Says it all really.
