Scunthorpe Manager Paul Hurst has said adam Hammill has played his last game. He got subbed the other night after about 25mins and he threw a tantrum. Threw his sweatband on floor and punched the dugout now Hurst has said he will not be picked again.
Before anyone even mentions it i can safely say it would not be in our best interests to even entertain the thought of signing Hammill. Just don't.
I’d much rather watch players like Wilks who couldn’t beat a fullback if he was playing with a broken leg. Obviously.
I'd much rather us have 20-year-old Wilks than the current Hammill. It's the centre of the pitch where we lack experience.
Aye I'm sure a 31 year old who's getting binned by a league two side will do much better for us. Obviously.
Saw him last weekend at smithies tip, said he was nursing an injury but would be back for this weekends game
It’s only at our club that 31 is considered old. In fact so is 26. But so long as you are happy with the situation then fine.
Couldn't fault his commitment to BFC on the field. Don' t think his heart was really in it at Scunny and it showed when they played us. Sometimes a player just fits a particular club and luckily for us he fitted ours.
He's clearly not valued at a league 2 club so why would it be worthwhile signing him for us? You might feel our current squad is poor- that doesn't magically turn Hammill into a Championship player though. If he wasn't deemed good enough for us when we were in the league below I find it hard to see how he's improved this past 12 months.
Ignoring the second part of what I said where he’s getting binned off by a league two team? So let’s take age out of it then, why would a player who isn’t a star player in a league two team be good enough for us (championship)?
But would anyone be ok with him coaching and starting off his badges etc. Similar to Bobby and devaney...
We can’t pay wages what Scunthorpe pay lol Although a don’t think anyone thinks Hammill is the answer although he would think “what is this pile of ****” if he saw us play
I'm more concerned with the fact that our current players are not good enough for the Championship. Not yet anyway. I have no way of knowing whether an old head like Hammill could help us. I also don't know why he is being 'binned' by Scunthorpe (other than his reported petulant behaviour). What I do know is that the current policy of buy young and cheap, then sell at the first opportunity, is extremely disheartening.
I'm not saying I want us to sign Hammill, but right now I doubt he could be any worse than the performance I witnessed from Bahre yesterday. I might feel different tomorrow though, I always have a bad weekend when we lose.
