Not heard much. No doubt GG and the team are working hard behind the scenes. Looking forward to seeing a few strikers coming in. Had a look at a few Premier League targets which may become available. A fair few talented young players but not many I can realistically see us getting. Ashley Fletcher Jerome Sinclair Oliver Mcburnie Sam Gallagher Adam Armstrong James Wilson Tom Lawrence Dominic Solanke Jack Payne I can see us landing Mcburnie but we obviously need a lot more than that. We'll try for Fletcher but cant bank on that. Gut feeling is we'll go with Bradshaw, 2 x loan strikers and one from abroad or lower league. Exciting times though and I'm confident the club will get it right. Come on you Reds! ️️ Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
Usually strikers are more expensive without guarantees so why not loan better than we can afford and reduce the risk Sent from my LG-H870 using Tapatalk
From what we are being told we are probably waiting for the parent clubs of the players on our wanted list to decide whether they are needed as cover for the new season. If they are not, we will join in the pursuit to bring them in to the Club on loan. Sounds as though McBurnie and Fletcher fall into that category but as some have said already, the latter could probably get more money if he signed elsewhere. Looks as though we have now finally cooled on bringing Brad Potts in from Blackpool. Probably asking too much for him.! I'm personally glad about that. We don't really want to be further lining the present owners pockets because likely as not much to their fans frustrations it's unlikely it will be invested back into their team.!
Semantics/pedantry but players out on loan get paid the same regardless of who they play for. The key point is who pays them, the parent club or the loaning club or more fundamentally what proportion of his salary the parent club are willing to contribute.
True they do but Watford have made an approach to buy Fletcher. Also in a previous post Merde Tete was saying he understood Huddersfield were planning/or have submitted a £5 million bid for him. If that's right he will be either sold to the highest bidder or if they want him to develop for the future they might let him out on loan to a club where they believe he'll play regularly and improve his all round game in the process.
I think you may be right with this one, in which case they won't happen until after pre season as clubs will want to see what they do first before letting them go
I think we're agreeing here, I think Fletcher would go to Huddersfield or Watford for game time not to increase his already healthy salary. As you say if WHU see him as their striker for two years down the line then he'll be loaned out.
Yes... And watch you don't stand too close to the fence on the Queens ground, whilst peeping. You'll end up wi marks on yer face..
That's just what I'd heard on here or Twitter to be honest - no concrete facts. Though if it is true, I actually wonder what Hudds fans would think about them shelling out that much for a player who has pretty much only played half a season at 3rd tier level, and a few sub appearances in the PL without actually scoring?
Ashley fletcher was an integral part of a side that just clicked, brimming with confidence. I thought he looked very raw at first and then seemed to improve game on game. He has good pedigree and all the attributes to become an excellent striker. However 6m is ridiculous and tells you everything that is wrong about football these days! He's scored a few goals in league one a few seasons ago, and not really played since!
Their actual wage will be the same, but a club can offer additional "benefits" to sway the player to their club...
