not that this would happen in this day and age but would you be happy for Hecky to be given a 5 year contract today (on the back of the last few results) and for us to stick with him for at least the said period of time?

looking back over some of the rubbish managers (if you can call some of them that) since the Danny Wilson (first time around) he's head and shoulders above all of them in my opinion (only other decent ones for me was Gudjon and Bassett). Yes, my opinion maybe a little biased given where he's from and what he's achieved in a short space of time but i hate it when clubs dont back managers and give them time to build a team (or 3 in Hecky's case).

even if we ended up being relegated, i'd still want him here for the foreseeable future.

Five years is too long to my mind. I think two is enough with the option (for the club) to extend to a third.

It’s immaterial the length of contract. He either moves on or is sacked regardless of what a piece of paper says. That said i suppose it’s security for hecky.

True - but would a one year contract and a five year contract both pay the same severance? Doubtful.

    Yes.

But I don't see hecky wanting to be subjected to a full rebuild every 12 months

Regardless of recent results I am still 100% behind Hecky and hope we can get him on a longer contract ASAP. Even if we're relegated then he's the right man to bring us back up.

unfortunately he may turn out to be one of those managers who are great in the leagues below but struggle in the championship

I dare say Sir Alex would struggle in the championship with the restraints Hecky has had to deal with. Hopefully he will keep us safe this season and we can start to make progress next season. Just my opinion of course.

He won't be rebuilding. Most players are now on 3 year contracts

Only so we can attract bigger fees when we sell

Clubs already sniffing around Lindsey by the sounds of it.
