I think someone would've started a thread if there were. At least we've got one in today, and a striker at that.
Even if he had been down, I don't think he kept the number plate after selling the Vauxhall Signum. Rumors are that he drives a Renault Laguna now though. Sent from my WAS-LX1A using Tapatalk
I hope we've some more to come in this week so that Hecky and Jamie have time out on the grass to get the team to gel. It will be interesting to see how we play against Coventry tomorrow. I'm hoping we've got at least another two or maybes three permanents and a couple of young quality Premiership strikers yet to come in either this week or certainly next. It obvious that our backroom team know what they are doing as clearly Ike Ugbo is coveted by Chelsea fans who have been urging Conte to give him a run out in the first team. Looking at the various videos I've seen of him he could do well for us this coming season. If he gets a run out tomorrow I believe we'll get a pleasant surprise as to just how good the lad is. In former seasons we've tried signing veterans in the hope, that their experience might "rub off " on our younger players. There have been some exceptions, but in the main to my mind some of those we have brought in had certainly left their best days behind them.! Every Manager thinks differently. We are recruiting players many of whom show promise e.g McGheean, McCarthy, and Isgrove whilst it's being reported that Harry Rednapp is mulling over of three veterans who could well line up against us when we play Birmingham. He has today confirmed he is negotiating to sign Robbie Keane (37) and Ashley Cole (36) both of whom are currently plying their trade in the MLS and Stewart Downing who at 32 is the youngest and available on a free after leaving Middlesbrough. Rednapp has said " Ashley was the best left back in the world a few years ago, Stewart's a proper player and is as fit as a fiddle and Robbie is a great pro with an infectious personality". If those three do come in they will join his other new signings re-Marc Roberts (26)- £3.40 million, Craig Gardner (30)- Midfielder- WBA £1.5 million, David Stockdale (31)- Keeper- Brighton- Free and Cheikh N'Doye ( 31)- Midfielder- Angers France- Free. Which policy out of the two is right is it ours or is it theirs- time will tell of course and give us those answers.?
We can only go with our policy, the Redknapp model is too pricey. Imagine how much money just them 3 alone would want, probably the same amount as the rest of our entire squad....
I agree. We are signing young impressionable players who are agile and probably more receptive . There is no doubt that Keane and Cole have both had good careers but they are not the players they once were and to my mind Rednapp is buying "yesterday's men." Keane scored in the recent testimonial for Michael Carrick at Old Trafford but there looked to be times late on in the game where he could seize up at any minute and it's doubtful he could still play flat out for ninety minutes. It will be interesting to see how they fare if they do sign for Brum.
