Saw it on FB yesterday. Knew most on there, can’t remember some names though. The journey through the baths, lamp room boot cleaning/ greasing room, brought back memories. Do you know if it was Phil Auckland who filmed it? My brother has some footage of Houghton Main’s last day shift which Phil filmed. Seems strange looking at the Asos complex sited there now.
Great vid. W@nk pit. Bad bad reputation. A work shy reputation. Bonus earned ....... nil poi Even tho there was high seams and great faces. Mi mate Tony had a reight job trying to manage that workforce.
Fishing are we? Go on then I’ll take a nibble. Bad reputation my arse. I worked in some very challenging conditions, especially straight after the strike. Some weeks I earned decent bonus others not, The productivity bonus scheme was a farce anyway. There were high seams such as the Fenton around 5 foot and low seams like the Silkstone which was about a yard high at the most. Ican think of 1 overman called Tony Hanson who was a nice bloke but his biggest concern was his own vanity. Another factless and clueless post by YN.
No, his brother was Alan, think he worked at Silverwood, don't think they worked at Houghton together..
