i've no experience of Whitegates as we didn't even get them out for a quote but we used Your Move at Wombwell and have been more than pleased at how they've dealt with the sale.
A few years ago, my mum put her property on the market. She tried 4 or 5 and it stuck for years, haybrook especially were a disgrace and put no effort in at all. In all that time she had maybe 5 viewings. She finally tried Gates Estates and had an offer within a month at full asking price. she raved about them... which for my mum is pretty unheard of. They were helpful with advice on buying and areas and general thoughts too. She didn't try Whitegates, but I know she'd recommend Gates Estates in a heartbeat.
I used the pontefract branch years ago and they were absolutely fecking useless. We had to constant chase them for feedback and they just seemed like they didn't give a ****. Though probably not all the same. I recently sold my house with reeds reins and they were very good and professional But I'm like those on the adverts, I was tempted to use purple bricks but was worried my house would get less exposure especially with it not being visible from a main road and we were buying a new build and needed to sell quickly In the end guy who bought my house saw it while being at a house on my estate and not via internet after about 3 weeks of it being for sale. So ended up paying Reeds reins £2300 and could have just paid purple bricks £750
Have you thought about doing it yourself?? Get 3 out to value it then make your own sign and stick it in garden mate, I've seen a few over th last few year, my wife's cousin did it this way and saved a fortune.
The vast majority list on RightMove etc so in terms of exposure I don't think there's a great deal of difference. Debbie at Whitegates is very pleasant, easily contactable and always happy to assist.
Hi mate We had 3 companies out to value and all said the same price bracket Not thought about doing it myself to be honest always thought it would be too much messing about with the legal side of things
It's all subject to contract irrespective of whether you agree a sale through an estate agent or privately, as suggested above. You'll still be required to appoint a solicitor to act on your behalf in relation to the sale whichever route you go down.
It doesn't make a blind bit of difference who you use as the estate agents. The only variance you get is how regular feedback is provided. I'd stay clear of the web based ones. They'll take photos once you've paid and they can be very hit and miss with zero chance of getting new ones taken. They will often give you a higher price as well and then ask you to reduce after a couple of weeks. You miss the initial impact of being new to the market then.
A you desperate to move? If not I'd give it a few month trying yourself, you'll be surprised how many people drive round looking for a new house, of values fair and it's a nice house it'll sell all day long pal
Tried using them a few years ago. Useless and only interested in taking money imo. Cut out a load of aggro by doing it independantly if you can.
