Like that comment about what were we doing scoring a second in the 90th min instead of having it in the corner.
It gets dafter. They think Woodrow is on 18k a week. Some of them just don’t believe we’re not spending loads of money. Shame some of them are a bit green eyed because they’re generally a decent bunch Luton.
There's obviously some money there. Maybe it's like being the child of divorced parents, where the Dad isn't paying a penny more than he has to and has done some creative accounting to ensure he pays the minimum!
I suspect they are wealthier than Cryne was, but nowhere near billionaire status any of them. My biggest question is what was the source of the money that part paid for the club. Was it there own monies, or was it a loan, or is an investment vehicle being used that we don't know about. There are so many questions but because of the opacity of financial reporting, we'll likely never know.
Agree but there was definitely a correlation at one stage between them creeping above us in the table and Pelly popping up on the forum. I welcome fans from other forums though and didn't agree with some of the stick he got. As for rich owners, maybe true but they've hardly splashed the cash, just been quite savvy of late.
I was thinking exactly the same. The old "threaded" view is a real throwback! How anyone can think we would pay someone £18k a week is baffling. if we were willing/could offer players £18k a week, people like Winnall, and Hourihane wouldn't have jumped ship in the past(when in touching distance on the play-offs), and neither would your Pinnocks and Lindsays, etc. I wouldn't be surprised if Dike is our biggest ongoing cost at the minute, if you add his wages and loan fee's together and even that wouldn't get anywhere near £18k a week.
To be fair, the only stick he got was my meltdown around Christmas when I had suffered a loss in my personal life. I think other people are generally sound to him and rightly gave me an earful for behaving like an idiot. He hasn't posted much on here recently mind - it's almost as though he only popped up when Luton we're doing well and he wanted to tell us how 'Moncs' was getting on.
Most clubs owners are rich tbf. To say we are doing so well on the pitch because of our owners is fair because their plan seems to be working, but there’s a big difference between that and suggesting we’re buying success. We are an anomaly in championship terms. We are a good club with a plan. It’s rare that those two ingredients work on their own, but for us they are working for now. Only bitter people make us crap like that guy on the Luton forum. Thankfully some of his fellow fans disagreed with him.
They must be rich to keep buying all the clubs they do & run them , I have worked it out that their master plan is to buy enough clubs throughout Europe to be pioneers & form the first ever European league & are guaranteed success as they will be the owners of the league champions ! lol
You don't have to be rich to own football clubs if you have an investment fund vehicle that pledges a return on investment, either on profits, or as interest on a credit line. We don't know if they have actual equity placed in their acquisitions or if they are using other peoples money or loans. If you look at RedBall corp as a prime example, which Billie Beane is involved in. Numerous investors, industry and individual being encouraged to invest into their fund based in the Cayman Islands aimed at future stakeholdings in sports organisations. Other peoples money.
Worth a lot in assets perhaps, but money in the bank to spend on us? & Then there’s FFP? Daft apeths..
