    Just stumbled upon this on Twitter and thought I’d share;

    A link for you: twitter.com/OakwelHistoria…

    -- Archibald Leitch is an absolute icon of sporting, social history in British football and I hope Barnsley can preserve a true jewel of their own history with the main stand you have at Oakwell. IMG_0830.jpg IMG_0832.jpg

    Great read that with some great quotes

    However a ground which holds 36,000 in comfort...they had a different view of comfort them days it seems.

    Thanks

    The club was at it's zenith in the 1950's. The board back then were self sufficient and sold key players. We've always been famed as a club for not standing in a players way. Makes you wonder if we'd hung onto those players and had a dart at promotion then how much the ground could have been improved sooner before the decline in the sixties and seventies.

    "...and whilst the man-in-the-street is sometimes wrong, he is sometimes right."

    I didn't realise the BBS had been going as long as that! :D
