Yet we lose another player for free Yiadom I know he would not sign another contract, but should we have done more re his playing for us and putting himself in shop window. If they screw us by saying they are not going to sign then shove them with kids Then we can develop some one else
If he hadn't been trying or was being an arse behind the scenes then yes. As far as I'm aware he's played, done his best and adhered to the terms of his contract. Why would you punish someone for fulfilling their side of a bargain?
You sign a contract. You play to the best of your ability. You are not a slave. If the situation were reversed we flog you in an instant whether you want it or not.
If it had been Winnall cited I might have had a different reply. The thing is no one actually knows what we got for him. If it wasn't much I'd have been tempted to put him in the under 23's. If it was a decent fee then there's no point cutting your nose off to spite your face.
If we would have stayed up I think We would have been in with a good chance of keeping him. The intrest from Huddersfield and Swansea went after the failed medical and he while he hasn't been as good as he was the year before still too good for league one. Looks to me like he wanted a move back down south. As for letting him go for free same as Marley and josh scowern if a player wants to leave they will always run their contract down yids and Marley had done it before. And when the other club aren't paying a fee better chance of getting those higher wage demands. So no wouldn't say so.
players don't want to stay at clubs that have no ambition to move up, good players will stay together and buy in if the club shows a strong desire to get better and make every possible effort to move up the pyramid, once players feel like they are treading water they will start looking for moves to clubs who are aiming for better things, once one goes then the next one, then the next one, then they all want out and they'll go anywhere to avoid the sinking ship, and most of ours did avoid the sinking ship
Players want to be at clubs where they get paid the most they possibly can it's a short career they aren't plumbers. No loyalty from any players nowdays or very few.
Agree it is a short career but they earn massively bigger wages than the average person, and why can't they retrain for something else such as plumbing for example, when they are finished? Like most other people would. It's just agent talk to bump up their massively disproportionate wages and lots of people fall for it.
Not nessacerily true. I know CH had an offer from another club offering higher wages than Villa which he turned down because he felt Villa was a better long term club.
I wouldn't want to retrain. **** that. The adulation of football fans until I'm 37, followed by the excitement of fitting Mrs. Miggins' bathroom until I'm 65? Nah. I'd be taking clubs for every single penny, and then living in luxury forever more. I guess most footballers are the same. *kisses badge, thumps chest.* I'm Barnsley until Sheffield Wednesday offer me 1p-per-week more.
Which club? CH is allegedly on 27k a week at villa so be interesting to know which club was prepared to offer more.
For the top two tiers of players, they shouldn't really have to retrain after retirement if they are savvy with their money and make investments whilst playing such as property. I guess it depends on whether you want to live in luxury, spunking huge amounts on fancy cars that lose value quickly or buy property for the same value and draw income from it. They seem to be better advised now than in the past which is good, as obviously a kid leaving school to play footy isn't going to learn how to manage money like the rest of us do.
OK they don't have to fit bathrooms but it doesn't mean they have to retire when they are finished as a player. They can get work at all levels of sport as fitness coaches, managers etc. It's the argument that "it's a short career" I disagree with. Most people nowadays have a variety of roles during their working lives What makes them any different apart from agents ******** reasons for exploiting football supporters and their clubs?
Exactly aslong as he backed himself to perform well enough for them to want to keep him around when they move further up the pyramid.
yeah if you use the Robbie Fowler and Michael Owen property model on a smaller scale you would be ******* laughing by retirement, that said the best footballers also want to play at the highest level, it's not always about money, Oxlaide Chamberlain took a massive paycut to join Liverpool and might win a CL medal on the weekend (regardless of him not playing final)
