I haven’t been near the town for over a month . Just wondered if they were cracking on with it.

If not, looks like they may be soon. On the latest info. Re building works. Really looking forward to it being finished. ( get ready for the bullets. Damned if they do, damned if they don’t, doom mongers)

houghton has come out and said future spending plans will be heavily impacted because of c19 though. so i wouldn't be surprised to see some of the plans shelved. especially given it's pretty much being funded centrally and has little outside investment

Might end up being a plastic greenhouse if they run out of money.

Before this virus kick off I didn’t think they would fill it with the big names they wanted

Those who live in glass houses should not throw stones

Wasn’t it decided that they wouldn’t rely on the large retailers this time for this project and encourage more independent businesses?

They stopped initially but as I drive past the Market Gate car park weekdaysI have seen workmen drifting back in larger numbers over the last 2-3 weeks. Some of them walking in groups of 3 and 4, so no chance their going to do any form of social distancing whilst at work

Couple of things as I often walk through on my once daily, work was stopped in line with lockdown but there appears to have been a skeleton crew working over the last few weeks.
I think it will struggle as only a few shops were leased and Cineworld was going tits up before C-19

Yes they've been working on it, nothings being shelved with regards the glassworks and they're pressing on with Eldon Street in June.

I think Houghtons comments about future projects could be about the Peel Square refurbishment or possibly the old Yorkshire Electricity yard that l think they had or were in the process of purchasing.

Bit of a kick in the teeth this for the town after things were looking up.
