So basically we don’t need a sports scientist department anymore because he can do it all on his Tod.
The more I read about him, the more I think this is a great coup for us. I'm quite impressed that GG has allowed the speculation to develop around the other candidates in the process, when it seems like he was the priority target from the start, and in attendance at the Wednesday game. It's not often a new manager isn't anywhere in the odds listing 24hrs before he's appointed.
I would suggest the most important factor about this appointment would be the boost it should give the players. If you were a player at Barnsley trying to progress in the game and you see the background of our new Head Coach, it must give you a massive boost! We shall see.
Good read that. There was an initial response on here at the amount of clubs he has been at but its because he has been sought after by other clubs. Just hope Mourinho doesn't come back in for him for at Man Utd.
I wonder where it leaves the current coaches - PH, Bobby and Disco. I hope they don't get cast aside.
Very interesting background. Similar to Mourinho. I like the idea that he took a Sports Science degree and got an education in the game other than having played it. I wish Jose well.
Imagine they still have their development roles, but they’ll be needed to get the new man up to speed. Seems like Mourinho used him mostly as an opposition scout, rather than a coach, so I wonder if he will have a more overseeing role and employ specific coaches to take sessions. In which case Paul may be his assistant with Disco stepping up to U23s. Guess we’ll have to wait and see!
SEVEN languages! I can barely cope with two! In France I just start spouting random English and Russian words, all pronounced in a comedy 'Allo 'Allo style accent.
when I was in hong kong I was pissed and trying to speak to a Chinese taxi driver in german ( default setting for a pissed squaddie) when he said in oxford English " where would you like to go my dear sir"
He's had a lot of jobs. There's every chance he'll be appointed head coach of the Uzbekistan national team before we play Burton.
Similar thing happen to me in Tenerife when I was living out there....as usual when I was p1ssed I was fast and fluent to some point in Spanish but yet when sober ( which was very rare lol ) I could struggle to Pronounce certain words. .words that rolled of my tongue when drunk ..it was a standing joke that when totally p1ssed I'd ask a question in English and answer myself in Spanish..to the point I could have a full blown conversation lol...id jump in a taxi p1ssed around 630 after a 12pm whist 630 am session have a brilliant conversation in Spanish the same taxi driver would then pick me up for my day job some couple of hours later after I'd sobered up a little and I'd struggle to understand a word hed say....Anyway one particular morning at 8am I jumped in a taxi and asked in perfect Spanish for my place of work and strike up a conversation with the spanish driver as you do ...i kid you not..... The driver says in a broad Manchurian accent where abouts in barnsley you come from mate is it cudeth have got a mate who lives down Darfield road on crown avenue you don't half sound like him.do you know him...... so not only was my Spanish ****...i spoke it with a barnsley twang.... apparently .... turned out the lad was Spanish 35 year old ...mum English dad Spanish born in Spain but grew up in Manchester but had been in Tenerife since he was 22... It was weird but funny as **** at the time. I was gob smacked
