Trevor Philips played for Rotherham under Tom Doc I think. He only lived a hundred yards from Oakwell.

Neil Smillie, whose father Ron played for us, played against us for Palace and maybe Brighton. Also the bloke who scored Enfield's equalizer against us in 81 was from Barnsley I think but I can't remember his name. Keith Burkinshaw too.

    For Liverpool and, er, Workington.

Great thread. Always looked out to see if any Premier League players were local born in the Panini sticker albums. Always remember finding out that Crossley was born in Barnsley, couldn't believe it seeing that as a youngster with him playing in the top flight and not for us.

Stan "Dizzy" Burton. I remember my dad pointing him out to me in Wombwell. Played in the 1939 cup final for Wolves. He got his nick name because he was a maze dribbling winger. I looked him up on Wikipedia as I only had my dad's word for this before now.

Born in Barnsley. He played for Yorkshire in the 70s when you had to have been born in the county.
