......... if that is indeed the hold up with the takeover negotiations - as what has been reported by some on here.
Patrick put that in place when he first arrived at the club - and all of us fans should continue to back that decision and agreement to the hilt.
We have to make sure Barnsley Football Club stays at the WELL.

    Nope.
None of the threads contradicts - if that's what you mean.
We can still have the potential owners talking to Hecky and helping Hecky during negotiations ......... while also allowing Barnsley Council to retain their 50% stake in the WELL

Someone posted on here previously that it was at the insistence of others to safeguard the club’s assets to avoid an owner asset stripping the club and selling the ground for development.

Edit: Weren’t BMBC involved pre-PC when Doyle purchased the club from the administrators?

Not sure what there is to add. BMBC were not involved when Doyle bought the club from the Administrator

I’m just curious to know where BMBC’s involvement initially came from. If anyone can offer any further info then that would be great.

When PC took over he put the ground 50% in his ownership and 50% in the council. I presume there was an agreement it can only be used for football.

Basically, they and PC got together to raise £4 million towards paying off the Sterling Consortium who Doyle has borrowed £1 million from.

What I don't understand about why the council need to hold 50%, surely they control the planning applications so could refuse permission for anything other than a football stadium.

Yes, I’ve seen the ownership structure of Oakwell Community Assets Limited but I’m just unsure as to who drove that ownership model and the reasons behind it. I just wondered if BMBC were concerned post administration given our precarious position.

Hardly. These days if a developer wants to fight a council set on rejecting planning applications they can easily outspend said council

As I remember it BMBC were concerned about any new owner of the land having development plans that could affect their then plans for ‘re- making Barnsley’ Not on about the ‘Halo and Tuscan village’ talk, but the planning after that, which later fell through with the onset of the Global banking crisis. Apparrently it was a nightmare trying to get to the bottom of where the financing came from prior to PC And the Council taking over.
