The club had the quotes and they had the business plan that had been put together to finance it and they decided it wasn't economically viable at which point it becomes a question of priorities with all the other expenditure that is needed for the upkeep of Oakwell. It doesn't seem too difficult a priority to understand either. We've removed the embarrassment of a scoreboard and provided a reasonable replacement. We've got issues with the West Stand and I suggest spending the money on fixing that is going to generate the club more revenue than a scoreboard. I'm sure there are other investments that could provide a greater revenue stream as well.
Well I know one thing, a 3 bedroom detached house could have been build for significantly less than Ben reckons a structure to hold a TV would cost. Think about that for a moment. It just seems like nonsense because the club for whatever reason didn't want to install one. It is like when you asked (on my behalf) what the cost to finish the east stand and install the middle floor was. You wasn't given a proper answer you was just told 'too nuch' how do they know how much I am capable of raising through crowd funding? When asked about the Cost of repairing lights in the carpark the answer was 'too much ' Perhaps if they weren't so guarded and sneaky with their answers then people would have hard facts. For example the money raised from redfearns could surely go towards installing a proper bar if you were given a target rather than just told 'too much' or could go towards a fit for purpose board if you weren't just told 'too much'. The undisclosed but too much nonsense that our 'open and hnest' club surrounds itself with isn't helping anyone
I just want some paint on a few bollards to be honest (well I don't, I want lighting there but I'll take what I can get at this point) but it's getting light nights again soon it's been that long!
It goes something like this Ground floor: lower concourse First floor: unfinished, very centre section only complete (I think it is a receotion area for exec suites maybe? That or storage?) Second floor: executive boxes Third floor: upper tier concourse If you look at the picture below you'll see what I mean, only the centre section is finished with the lower row of windows, both outer wings were never completed so we are missing out on potential opportunities. And if you look to the very right of this image you can see the girders that take the weight of the floor that was never built If the club had answered the question of how much completion of at least one side of the stand would cost then a supporter led fundraising could have taken place and by now maybe redfearns would have a permanent home much bigger than the current bar. As it is however the club simply said it costs too much which in my opinion is another way of saying 'we can't be arsed'. As I said earlier in the thread, Cheltenham supporters raised enough for a scoreboard bigger than ours, in fact they raised almost £70k
I think you mean the section that was added a couple of years after the original collection construction. That was added for extra storage
I can neither confirm. Or deny that the storeroom. Is unfinished. However, the storeroom. Appears perfectly. Functional to me
ere lads, my little boy doesn't have anyone to play with this aft. he's only 3 and loads of fun. can he join you?
That's not the discussion point he put forward though is it. The East Stand is fine and fit for purpose at the same time it I'd clearly unfinished. The two things are not mutually incompatible.
As isay I'm really. Interested I this. Because. The only. Thing I've ever mentioned. Was challenging. Don rowing policy if banning oaos from using. The lift. A privilege that they had always been. Offered.. Hardly. A criticism of the facilities a challenge to the change in the policy. So you run and find where I've. Critised the facilities
