Nit being funny but having brought in over 20 million since the summer, if we aren't in the market for 800k posters we might as well just pack up and go home.
I would still like either Bogle or Watkins too ok so they are league 2 but we are the masters of polishing youngsters up.... so I would like one of them to come to us.
They are strong in that central area.[/QUOTE] So strong.... they got outfought all game and changed their style and approach.
Re: I would still like either Bogle or Watkins too The fee for any player is not going to be the problem. The reason that we buy from the lower divisions is not that we cannot afford the fees. It is that we cannot meet wages aspirations of higher division players. Unless Mowatt, or anybody else is prepared to be realistic, then they will not be signed. The reasons we sign loan players are: a. Their club helps with part of their wages. b. There is a short term limit to our financial commitments. c. The January transfer window is a good time to sell, but not a good time to buy.
I honestly don't know much about him (as was the case with Hourihane when he arrived) to give an opinion. I hope he's given the chance to be Alex Mowatt and not "Conor Hourihane's replacement" if that makes sense. We seem to be a club where players come primarily to be given a chance to shine. Not all come off, but we seem to have done well recently. Sent from my Moto G (4) using Tapatalk
Think a few are forgetting Conor wasn't as good as he is now when he came. People say he's irreplaceable. Perhaps in the short term. But long term we can develop another player. Perhaps even two. This lad from Leeds has far more pedigree, and is even younger, than a Hourihane when he came. Like what the club are doing. Signing seemingly quality 6 months loans to give us a shot at playoffs, and looking for players to develop ready for next season
Hourihane is in the top 3 midfielders I've seen play for Barnsley it took 20 years to replace Redders and before that 15 to replace King Ronnie so I'd say he's going to be almost impossible to replace before about 2030
Some views from my Leeds supporting friends on Facebook. "He never beats people - deadball crosses are his thing. Good number 10 threading balls through to front men. Doesn't score enough goals imho but he's only 22. Much improvement to come but he's class" "Great left foot and can run a game, but sometimes, when things are not going great in a game, he can goes missing. Lacks pace but is a very good footballer and excellent dead ball taker." "Would be a good buy for Barnsley-a bit one paced and very one footed (left). I'd give him a 12 month extension now then loan him to Barnsley until end of the season. Young lad - won't make Premiership - needs game time to get back to his best"
if it matched barnsley's valuation, i'm pretty sure they would. i reckon we've got around £10-£15m in the bank at the minute
Like I said, it's not just the fee. We can likely afford to throw 750k in a fee, but not c20k a week wages for three Years Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
Any Two from Mowatt, James and Scowen would make a cracking midfield at this level, in my opinion of course. If he was available for reasonable wages, I'd bite their hands off at anything under £1m... Wouldn't gamble with a loan agreement though. Can imagine there would be a good number of clubs circling to see how he did with us, before blowing us out of the water in the close season when his fee would be decided by tribunal.
