You lost me after the reason. I'm clearly not intelligent enough to debate with yourself, as you say, you're a labour voter.

Labour government let goldthorpe/darfield/bolton/thurnscoe/Houghton down for 30 years. I'd you wanna debate on the state labour gave caused in the Barnsley dearne valley then go ahead, you're not knowledgeable enough.

Blair’s govt were not a true labour govt that’s why they rebranded to new labour so they wouldn’t have their feet held to the fire when deserting real labour values .
And as the op was reverting to Tories it was they who killed the industries of our region without putting into place alternate and meaningful replacements as a real socialist govt in France had done during their closure plans .

This was posted to get a reaction and has been successful.

I don't understand why people feel the need to tell everyone who or what they voted. I thought these things were meant to be kept private.

There's been some astounding sweeping generalisations on here. Not unusual for a Labour v Tory thread.
Could I vote Tory? No. I think the country would be better off if they implode in the wake of Brexit. Does that mean I think all Tory voters are some sort of evil sub species? Of course not. How can anyone rationally come to that conclusion? My Dad lived the vast majority of his life in Barnsley and always voted Tory. Was he a monster? No. He was as kind, caring and decent a bloke as you'd wish to come across.
The f***ing stupid, vicious name calling is an illustration of the total breakdown of politics and consensus in the UK. It's about time politicians on both sides of the divide and some of their blindly obedient supporters grew up and started looking for the best solutions in everyone's interest instead of mindlessly sticking it to the other side.

I said you either aren’t politically knowledgable or read right wing none sense, I didn’t say you weren’t able to debate, but if you are going to then at least talk sense.

Goldthorpe and The Dearne Valley has gone to **** on the back of Austerity and a Blairite government for a decade. That Blairite government which was centre right, capitalist. Probably the same labour you want labour to return to.

I know the Dearne Valley well, I’ve lived there for 40+ years and used to live in Goldthorpe.

Socialism or a left centre Labour Party didn’t make Goldthorpe and Thurscoe into **** holes. The local council cuts did that, all brought on by Tory Austerity.

Genuine question and not anti Labour but, if you discount Blair's 13 years of government as being not really Labour then the last time the "real" Labour Party won a general election was 1974. 45 years ago. It seems that an old style Labour party have a lot of persuading to do as regards the British public. I hope they do as it would be better than the Tories but, even with an open goal in front of them, I've got my doubts about whether they can do it.

Thing is if it were watered down Toryism then we’ve had 40 years of some sort of Toryism and were no more forward as a country in terms of social mobility etc .
Blair’s avoidance of real labour values denied the change from Thatcher/Major the country demanded .
He championed unsustainable growth as the Tories had done previously and the house of Cards inevitably came down on him like a ton of bricks.
He didn’t invest in our infrastructure or industries instead blaming the EU for every failing his govt made just like a true Tory .
A proper Labour govt with the same values and policies of Clement Atlee ,Nye Bevin etc who had visions of putting essential services into the public ownership and made the NHS etc a credit to the people are the same policies as we have under a Corbyn led Labour Party.
The fact people come on and slate Corbyn with Tory media propaganda and see him as a dictatator and not from the most democratic political party in the country shows A the Tories and their greedy corporates are afraid of this true Labour led govt and the much needed changes it will bring . To say he is a communist and will bring the country to its knees is laughable as much as the people peddling it and believing it .

    Beat me to it.

Although the Blairite years were a lot more centre ground than the years after with Cameron and May, which are bordering Thatcherism, with an austerity squeeze on public services and the vulnerable in society.

You are right, we haven’t had a socialist government for many decades. I think Socialism has also moved on from then as well, we were 25 years out of WW2 and the country was still recovering economically.

Since then we have sold services to the highest bidder and ended up with an expensive product that isn’t efficient and doesn’t add money into the economy.

We’ve the Brexit debacle which could potentially lose the one industry that does bring money into the coffers, banking, Which obviously broke the economy in 2008.

It’s a complete mess created by right wing power hungry capitalists.

The worry for me is people are willing to vote for a party with no policies, lead by a man who is Tory in everything but the way he comes across to people as an ordinary bloke. My biggest hope is when the election comes, the policies will be awful for the electorate to swallow, but no doubt the spin will be in overtime by then.

Who really has the real political power and the ability to influence the voters in this country? - Not the politicians but the Political Journalists/Commentators/Newspaper Owners.
If a story doesn't either put a politician in a good or a bad (usually bad) light they don't want to know.

    Laura Kuenssberg rules o.k.

It isn’t at all. Disgraceful to spread lies like that. He’s got 30+ years track record of supporting Jewish people.

Learn the difference between been against Israel’s government & been against Jews.

If someone’s anti-Syria we don’t call them anti-Muslim & if someone anti-Trump & America we don’t label them as anti-Christian yet with Israel whenever anyone criticises their government’s horrendous crimes they seem to get labelled as anti-semites.

    It’s wrong & should stop
