Never had a problem with bees, but didn't used to like wasps. However, this summer I found a new enemy. Horse flies. They make wasps look like cuddly toys. Wasps reckon they're hard but they don't really want to sting you. They're showing off most of the time. They usually **** off after a bit. The only thing a horse fly wants to do is bite you and it'll die trying. Not with a little proboscis thing like a mosquito. They've got knife-like mandibles and they rip/slash your flesh apart then lap up the blood. It ******* kills. It's like you've been shot. And the ******* chase you. For miles. Then your bites swell up and itch for days. I ******* hate them, the cnuting b'stards. Give me a million wasps over one ******* horse fly.
Agreed I worked, very briefly, as a guide in the Northern Territory of Australia I didn't give a toss about crocodiles, snakes or spiders but had nightmares about the horseflies and flying ants.
Bees. I find them intriguing. And they don't bother you. Wasps on the other hand are just narky little shits with no ppurpose in life.
We used to train two evenings a week at our ground by the river. All through pre-season up until October I'd be riddled with horse fly bites. Horrible. And then it'd all start again in April
TRY GETTING STUNG BY 20 ODD OF THE BAST**DS ! Never used to be bothered about either, but last autumn I was attacked by a swarm of wasps and I had an allergic reaction to the feckers, off work for 2 weeks, this autumn, a swarm of the bast**ds made a nest in the outbuildings at the chippy, got stung again , but only twice, no time off but very large swelling on my neck and shoulder. Horrid evil swines !!!
Done a fair bit . Spoke to some guys in the Yorkshire branch of the British Beekeepers Association and got some great info from them - got contact number if you're interested. Had a lot of working away from home this year so put it off to next year when that should calm down.
