Looks to me to have landed on his feet at Leeds. A younger, sensible, focused Italian businessman has bought out Cellino 50% and is in the process of completing the purchase of the remaining stake. He has a five year plan to buy back Elland Road and the Thorp Arch training facility. Money is to be made available, although the manager says he doesn't need to change much. On the field, Gary Monk has the team on a run of excellent results - I can't vouch for the quality or otherwise of their football. 7 wins from the last 9, with one loss. Closing on Brighton, and 8 points clear of the 7th placed team. A very real chance that Ben will next season be a Premier League CEO. I know he wasn't popular with all of our fanbase, but he did a lot to improve the professionalism of our club and was instrumental in securing several of our more successful signings. I don't hold him responsible for the 'length of contracts' situation - that's a function of pure economics. Good luck to him, I say - but not on Saturday, obviously!
In all fairness, all the worst chairmen and owners in the history of football have come into clubs with promises. No doubt about it Leeds are doing class this season but when I read about this new fella coming in, I thought Mansford may be ousted. After all, Cellino did poach him from us. I did like the fella most times when he was at Oakwell and had a good season with us last year.
No offence matey, but when you compare the club's fortunes under the two that really is the most ridiculous thing I've read on here all weekend.
No doubting Mansford was and still is very good at his job. As well as having the obvious job knowledge and experience he's also got the perfect personality for his role. Can sometimes come across as a bit flash and a bullshitter with his buzz words and management speak but i'd rather that than a mute or uninspiring character like Rowing.
The things I liked about Ben was that he was approachable and had a personality. How many people heard from Rowing or Ridsdale as much. Too head teacher like for me. Old school. Sometimes a younger fresher face who is with the modern times is what's needed in places. Sent from my SM-G930F using Tapatalk
I think he deserves plenty of credit. Both us and Leeds are in a better state than they were before he was there, so he knows his job. The only Chief Executive we've ever had that was so approachable. Linton was like the invisible man in the local media like having Rowing back.
Good luck to Mansford - but having Cellino on one side and Radrizanni on the other side isn't the safest position.
