I thought we were doing extremely well and playing better than an in-form and talented Fulham team. Everyone was putting in a shift and making a positive contribution to what I felt was as good a performance as I'd seen all season. Then a totally unprofessional & irresponsible act from Cavare changed the entire outlook of the match. Even in the second half when we were under the cosh, I thought our nine outfield players were magnificent for us, the back four were simply superb. Moore led the line well and ran his blood to water. Unfortunately, Thiam then put in an unprofessional cameo. I feel we could've gone on to get a much needed three points, but 'thanks' to Cavare it was not to be. However, if we continue with the form from the first half today, along with the last home match against Wolves, we can start moving up the table.
I've never thought we've been bad enough to go down, and recent performances suggest to me we're getting better not worse. Just wish it wasn't QPR away next up.
I concur my learned friend. The only disappointment for me today was the ones who booed at full time.Couldn't they see how much these lads put in against one of the best teams in the Championship. It made my already gutted feelings a whole lot worse.
Share all of that, Mr BigLil. Strange feelings today really. I said earlier I didn't expect us to get anything out of the match but to look like surpassing those expectations and then shoot ourselves in the foot is frustrating - especially on such an emotional day. But our frustrations will be as nothing to Hecky, who has seen his careful setup and game plan undone by a moment of madness. Hecky will know though that that is unfortunately what you sometimes get from younger, less mature players. When he has kicked the cat he will no doubt regroup and start to prepare the players to go again next week.
Also, great credit to the Fulham fans today for their observance of the minute's silence and contribution to the display of respect in the 66th minute.
Can't disagree with any of the points made. Including about the Fulham fans. First half we were in cruise control really until Cavare's head went. It just unravelled from there really. We do look to be improving but we are desperately short of quality in certain positions at the moment. I just hope that in the next few days we can rectify that somewhat. Huge blow losing Pinnock for a period too. He's been excellent recently.
If it wasn't for the red I can't envisage it having been anything but a hard earned but comprehensive victory for us. There were some lovely combinations in midfield and Gardner and Mallan are starting to look like tidy players. Moore gives us another dimension and is the first forward we've had in a while who can let centre halves know they've been in a game. We were cruising. We should have been talking about looking too good to go down this evening after beating a decent Fulham side but it wasn't to be. You feel a bit of luck and a big win is due. Of course it won't be at QPR whilst the earth is orbiting the sun, so Wednesday to get it it is then. Fine with me!
Great first half performance, moment of madness, hate 10 v 11 games, 2nd half attack n defence with the odd counter, Thiam was diabolical if Moore can chase keeper down after 70 mins why cant Thiam unless he was told by Hecky not to...dint even track back n help out....fans booing were they booing the ref ? Although someone did say something to Yiadom and he challenged the fans in the corner....Yiadom was class ....some brain dead fans unfortunately....oh and Hedges could play up top with Moore for me.....
We were pressing them all first half , had command of game and there only looked one winner until cavare sending off
Agree, so fed up of such bad luck coupled with naive stupidity from our French man. We were playing so well and a point would have felt harsh, but let's take that performance into the next few matches and save our season...for Patrick's memory and for all our peace of mind.
Yes Cavares complete lack of discipline let down everyone cant remember seeing anything as bad at Oakwell.
