R I P Bill Harber, another piece of Barnsley gone.

 

Sorry to hear that. My friends uncle. Met him last year at a funeral of his nephew.

 

RIP Bill. A Barnsley institution on point duty at Pontefract Road end outside Albert Hurst's shop, with his handlebar moustache.

My good wife's uncle Dave 'the king of Barnsley and stairfoot rarndabart ' Cherry knew Bobby Bill and included him in the song . Funny thing is that Dave thought Bill was already dead hence the line in the song ' Bobby Bill would turn in his grave ' . He phoned Dave and said ' im not bloody dead yet that noz ' .

 

Plobby old love can tha do mi a favor please..Next time you see Dave can you ask him what name did him and Gordon go under when they were a duo....i havent seen Gordon for years and tying to remember what they called themselves is doing mi tree in lol thanks in advance

 

Just announced a feature on Bill on lunchtime Look North, BBC, imagine it will be on tea time bulletin as well.

The original tyke that if anything lol... I can't think for the life of me what they went out as, as a duo ....I do believe they both played in numerous bands and LT does ring a bell... looking forward to finding out
